GRWildlands We Are Ghosts Trailer

Recommended Posts

I'm withholding my judgement until a real gameplay video surfaces. Gameplay trailers are almost always as flashy and stylish as possible to create buzz, and the last trailer was a much slower paced Choose Your Own Adventure sort of affair. Neither one seems to be giving a straight answer as to what the gameplay is like.

I think the answer here is, the gameplay is what you make it. This is an open world, non linear mission orientated title. You can play it slow, like the original white hat trailer showed, and try a stealth approach, or you can co-ordinate a multiple angle assault, or you can just blitz the place - it's up to you.

You are right the trailers have been pretty flashy so its difficult to gauge the gameplay, but I hope that helps some :)

Yeh the Ubi store will re-direct you depending on your location based off your IP. You can trick it with a browser plugin though.

I'll send you a EU version if it comes down to it :o)

Wait and see also my end, also agreed that it'll be I imagine what you make of it. I'll pick it up at somepoint just no massively hyped by it as of yet maybe that will change, but regardless I kind of like the idea of 4 player coop blowing up stuff on an open map for an hour or two.

Also it says they are ghost at the end of that trailer......With that many explosions and ###### going down I'd describe them as poltergeists.

Can we actually do assaults from more than one angle? If so is it "the rest of the squad goes where they're told", "half the squad goes where they're told and one stays with you", or "Co-op only"?

Also, I get the feeling SMGs are going to be inferior to rifle-caliber weapons because of their short range. They can balance out that short range a few ways though. Make them more damaging than rifles at close range (not big on this idea), or make several levels of noise generation when suppressed/unsuppressed and pistol caliber weapons are quieter in both cases. There needs to be some form of optimizing SMGs for close range (<30m) that makes them useful, and not just "faster turn speed than rifles and carbines".

I've only seen the P90 in the trailers, but I'd honestly be okay with getting rid of SMGs in favor of more guns in other categories, or at least more PDRs/subcarbines to fill the CQB specialist role.

Anyone who gives any weight to a trailer is waaaaayyyy out of touch. I stopped believing in those around the time I realised that the tooth fairy wasn't real. Gameplay talks, thats all.

And anyone who thinks this will be remotely like OGR is on crack.

Worlds apart..... But maybe still an enjoyable game.

It won't be remotely like GR because its on a whole new scale, massively. I'm not kidding anyone on here though, it will also not be like the original because it's not meant to be an HD remake of Ghost Recon, it is its own game. Like you said, so long as it is enjoyable and it doesn't tramp all over the heritage of the series, it can only be a good thing.

I remember all the old co-op tournaments we used to play in, if the missions can capture the tension of those, bring it on!

I was reading some posts and a thought popped into my head. "What is seriously lacking" and a huge problem that has allowed UBISOFT to skirt the real issue of "what are we going to get is.. no Demo. Games used to be intro'd with a Demo. UBISOFT though endeavors to hide its hand by offering no demo so players know what their getting.. I mean.. who the heck buys a car without a test drive?

I think this is a tactic UBISOFT has managed to conceal for a long time. most developers try to use fancy videos with cinematic footage to woo players. But to get a real demo is a dead animal. no developer or publisher can justify selling a game without a user getting a test run on a dumbed down version to at least see what the mechanics and gameplay are like. The Division was just a primer to get the game engine into GR:W.

Dude all recent games have had demos.

He means a playable public demo.

Which won't happen, Betas are a thing however, but not the same thing as a demo, mostly because they only run on a limited time.

I hate to play devil's advocate but I sincerely doubt that Ubisoft is withholding a public release demo for malicious reasons. Other devs have stressed that demos take time and resources to create. Wildlands is an open world game, and few if any open world games have had demos released to the public.

so i'll admit ive hardly been following wildlands. im still too bitter about what happened to GR after island thunder was released. anyway this new games seems right up my alley. i see its singleplayer/coop. its it going to be similar to the division where coop is the main attraction and sp is a sideshow? and will it require a constant internet connection like the division even for sp only?

while the online only approach is cool now, it severely limits how the game is played in the future. time passes, servers go down and people stop playing. but that shouldn't punish those who like singleplayer.
