Mamon 0
I'm sure there is something really basic that I just don't know...well, here's my problem. I have a WOI character model with a helmet and a few other attachments. What I want to do is have a character model with the same uniform(texture) but WITHOUT the helmet. I've tried taking the .chr files of a helmetless model from GR (rs_south_aks.chr) and simply swapping the WOI textures onto the GR model using Tex Swap. I swear, to my logic this should work absolutely...and i've spent the better part of the last 3 days racking my brains please help!
GRIN_Wolfsong 0
If the helmet is not made as an attatchment, in other words not part fo the character model, you can't remove it without editing the model in 3DSM. And you can't do that unless you have the original files before they where exported by WOI. If it's an attatchment you will see that in the ATR file.
Mamon 0
It's not an attachment in the .atr file...but how come what I tried to do with switching the GR model skins didn't work?
Mamon 0
Ok this ist vierd...i took the m03_eli_ak47_2.atr file which uses rs_south_aks.chr (ie.helmetless soldier) and from the m03 ATR file I just changed the CHR files(same models, just diff skins) and it bloody worked...i don't understand why this wouldn't have worked before..i'm going out of my mind
Ruin 17
but how come what I tried to do with switching the GR model skins didn't work? Think of it this way. You have your model (A cube) and you texture it exactly... then, you put it on a new model (a banna) is that texture going to fit the same way? No. You're trying to take a skin that's adapted for a whole other model and make it work on something it isn't desgined for. To proove it, just take both skins and lay them on top of eachother in PSP of Photoshop. Change th eopacity of the one layer and you will see that they don't line up. The models are what hold the data for the bags, gear, etc etc... not the skins.
Mamon 0
I realize that...I will be able to tweak with the textures to get them to fit a helmetless model...but even when I use a CHR with no helmet and put other textures on it, it would still use the old model for some bloody reason...but i think i figured it out thanks , btw, anyway i can upload a screenshot right here ?
