renzuh 0
I downloaded the weapons of war version 2 and installed it on my computer. After a few minutes of cut and paste, it worked. But on the place were normally the weapon name is, it says: !find key The normal weapons, so not the ones from the mod, are working just fine. Why is this and can it be solved? I have DS and IT. I have a pentium 2 GHz. 64 Mb geforce 2 MX with tv out. An eax Soundprogram 512 MBram 80 GB harddisk space greetz Renzuh
Stalker 0
is there a strings.txt in the mod folder under shell???
renzuh 0
you mean when I installed the mod, there was a text document called strings? Yes, there is. In that document are the names that I think i have to use. Is that correct and how do you get them were they belong? Is it the same thing you do with the effects? Just put them in the excisting file? ReconSnake 0
The strings.txt file should be in the shell folder inside the GR/mod/WOWv2 folder. Why did you have to cut & paste anything? I have about 15 mods in my mod folder and I just ran the installer that WOW2 came with - it worked fine. RS
renzuh 0
ok, the firts time I installed the mod.The weapons from the mod didn't made any sound. So I checked the effects in the GR\Mods\origimiss\sound folder. In that file, I pasted all the effects from the WoW2 mod, and I putted all the sounds in the origimiss sound directory. I moved the texture, kits, equip, etc. files into the directory were the rest of the texture, kits, equip, etc. files are. So everything was in place in the origimiss directory to solve the sound problem. But the time that I didn't had any sounds, the names were OK. And the sounds are more important than the names. But now I hope that the name problem can also be solved. You See? I do have the strings file. But what do I have to do with that to get my names back?
ReconSnake 0
Let me see if I am reading you 5x5: You are saying you unzipped the mod to your GR/mod folder and when you ran it the sounds didn't work? Was that for all the weapons, just all the WOW2 weapons, or just some of the WOW2 weapons? Then, you moved all the files from the WOWv2 to the corresponding folders in the origmiss folder? That was a mistake. Several things could have went bad for you at this point. Do you still have a separate WOWv2 folder in your GR/mod folder? And is all the original WOW2 stuff (ie .gun files, kit files, sounds, etc) still in there? RS
renzuh 0
All the weapons from the WoW2 mod didn't made any sound, but the ones from the normal game (not the mod) are working just fine. I still have all the unzipped files in my GR/mods folder (and the original intall file for WoW2), because I copied the files (sounds, kits, etc.) into the origimiss folder (kits from WoW2 by the irigimiss kits folder, sounds of WoW2 by the origimiss sounds folder, etc.) Now everything is just running perfectly except for the names. I hope that I can leave it this way and just put the file with the names somewhere in the origimiss folder to get the names, clear?? I hope you can do something with this. ReconSnake 0
It sounds like your best bet is to just copy the text from the WOWv2 string.txt and paste it to the bottom of your origmiss string.txt if you are just going to keep all the WOWv2 stuff in your origmiss folder. renzuh 0
yes, that sounds good. But were can I find the strings.txt in the origimiss folder?? And then I will just do it like I also did with the effects file in the GR/mods/origimiss/sounds folder (just cut and paste). But were is the string.txt in the origimiss folder?? renzuh 0
ok, I found the strings.txt in the GR/data folder. Now everything is working fine, I've the weapons and the names. Thank you. There only one liitle problem, when I scroll through the Sniperrifles in quick mission, I get kicked out of the game. And in quick mission, there are more sniperrifles to choose from than in Multiplayer. And in multyplayer I don't get kicked out of the game when I scroll through the sniperrifles. But this isn't such an important problem The names are working again!! Thank You!!!! Renzuh
X69RZX 0
What that is most likely, is that you have a kit loaded(ie from the WoW2 mod) that cannot find the reference it is looking for in the strings.txt file. There are other things besides just guns in the strings file. If you look you will see hand held items. This could be where your problem lies. Also, it could be a missing .gun file or .itm file. What I suggest is that you compare the contents of the original mod folders to the content of your moved files new home(ie origimiss(which BTW I think is a really bad idea)). By comparing the contents, you should be able to find the culpret. If you cut the files(not a good idea) instead of copying them from the WoW2 mod, then you may need to redownload, or unpack it again. I have gotten a few mods b4 that just had some bugs, that's how I got into modding , it's usually easier to make a new mod, and just clean up the buggy one(not saying WoW2 is buggy, I don't even have it ) removing any unwanted stuff. X69RZX 0
Are the same weapons available in MP that are available in SP? Also, you can scroll through the weapons for each class going one way, then the other, to eliminate kit numbers as the "guilty" kit/kits, if that indeed is the problem. renzuh 0
O, there's another problem. I just tried a LAN game, on the firts PC I create a game but when I try to join the game from an other PC. It says "Cannot connect to server wrong software version" Has that anything to do with the mod? Before I started the game, I also send all the files to the other computer so that on both computers are the same files.
renzuh 0
Ok, everything is working. I can play on the LAN again without problems, the sounds and the names of the weapons are working. Everything is OK!!! So thanks for the help & succes with your own Ghost Recon! Greetz & thanks, Renzuh
