Wildlands Ask Me Anything

Recommended Posts

As a community we need to stop telling people what we think their game needs. I have looked at a ton of pre released games and what people want and you could NEVER satisfy that list. It's udder ridiculous and sometimes seriously unrealistic.

I don't want UBI blowing smoke up my ass trying to sell me their game.

Just be honest.

Tell me what is trying to be done with the title.

Tell me how far along it's gotten towards that goal.

AND If something isn't feasible just state that.

I am not trying to play down requests but sometimes we ask way too much and when it doesn't happen we get upset.

We have all seen it and the whining afterwards and then the total tear down on the forums of a title because it didn't come out the way we wanted it.

Just give me a game that is fun and me and friends can enjoy and i'm good. I could careless what ###### sunglasses I can wear.

Meant to ask, when you guys were playing co-op, was there icons and such to tell you-you can cover here and you can cover there,(crates, walls, vehicles etc) like those blue icons in FS showing up everywhere I looked.

If they are, can they be turned off? just found them a distraction and too much on screen clutter that wasn't really necessary.

Cheers.

I had high hopes for PlayStation 3 platform release, but I can't wait for PC release, with future soldier surprises I'm still in awe of GR FS for ps3.

Please release more in game footage , that is all from me, for the moment..

Peace out

Is there a plan for us to be able to play actual SP, with multiple fire teams that we can direct to other positions then 'body slide' into that team member when we need to do something the AI isn't capable of doing? Having AI team mates is all well and good, but if they're just following me around like sheep, and I can't set up complex manoeuvres like I could in OGR using just the map and the AI (sending them to the opposite side of an objective to sweep in and catch runners/unexpected enemies blocking my extraction route, etc), then this may well be a deal breaker, as it's very difficult for me to get into coop play, given that I have no 'normal' hours for playing games.

Tim

Edit: And hello again GR.net, it's been some years since I've been here (back in the days of Island Thunder modding and getting the Blackhawk to fly nicely)! :hi:

They are not at the point where they can reveal the depth of the single player experience, but I put to them pretty much exactly what you have said, ie soul switching, and effective control over the friendly AI.

@Rocky. Will this installment of the game bring back open gameplay? wide open maps, multiple options on completing missions?

also will we be back to squads?

Absolutely, those are the key new components of GRW gameplay.

ok excelent. so basically ubisoft is returning to the roots of the GR we all know and love?

having open maps would allow for different avenues of approach to objectives.

final question: will we be able to play coop in single player mode? If I'm reading your excitement, I should expect to be able to practise on the maps. thanks for the heads up on rekindling my excitement for GR again.

That's the impression we got, Papa6.

The original game was a solid reference throughout the 2 day workshop. The new game will have to be 2015 modernised and different, but I think the Dev team would like nothing more than to win a big market share that included all the old fans.

great news! I'd like to be able to practise alone at home and try several avenues of approach on objectives and be able to complete them in any order based upon what tactic I want to take.

AI Bluefox, how does the liklihood of squad competitions look for the future? GR 1 had numerous competitions. would be nice to see GR.net come alive again. I've always felt bad for Rocky as his site seemed quiet to a degree due to the past iterations of GR.

Server Browser or Match Making System? Or, better yet, both?

Ubisoft's MMS has been universally terrible across all their PC titles, really awful. It does no one any good to soft pedal how bad it has been. This could be the best game ever, but if it's got the same console derivative MMS, with what looks like the revenants of Ubisoft's DRM, with the ridiculous primitive networking lash-up we've seen most recently strapped on Ghost Recon Future Soldier, Splinter Cell, and the Raven Shield games; it will be awkward at best, or, if nothing has changed unplayable for most.

@rocky

its going to be 3rd person shooter (first person when aiming), or it will be pure first person shooter ? this is very important for me, i just dont like 3rd person perspective and thats wy i didnt buy grfs, so i hope it will be pure fps for the Pc and tps for consoles.

cheers

I hope the questions asked (and respond to per Ubisoft NDA or what ever) don't have to take the direction of: "Ask us anything about what a great game company we are and the new direction we've taken to bring you the best possible gaming experience!"

And when you ask a sincere, serious and important question you get ignored, or at best the same kinds of bs answers the PC audience has been given for over a decade like: "Thank you for your question we intend to bring you the best PC gaming experience ." or "We're not answering questions of this kind at this time."

Only from Ubisoft...

No final word on this yet Crossix, the overall impression given was it's going down the 3rd person route, with first person for shooting.

At this point they were only talking co-op, so MMS will be explained further down the line. Totally agree with your point though.

And when you ask a sincere, serious and important question you get ignored...

Only from Ubisoft...

They asked us to the workshops to pose difficult questions, not to be ignored... I can assure you of that. Same deal with R6:Siege, the devs wanted to hear everything we had to say, good and bad.

Yeh sure we made some points that I felt did not seem to go down well, but we sure as hell made them!

Also, it was clear these workshops were not just thrown together as a token gesture, they actually outsourced the some of the workshops to professionals in that field so as to maximise the benefit. I think that says a lot for how serious Ubisoft were taking this initiative.

that is not good... if they want to get back to ghost recon roots on pc, first thing is to make it full FPS.

Although I'm a third person convert and prefer that, I really hope First Person can be supported! I can't see why it would be difficult to implement, most of the work is done and if you exclude weapon view (as per original) then it is as simple as fixing the camera in one place.
