Hi Rocky,

It has been many years since I have posted on these forums and the announcement today for Ghost Recon Wildlands has brought me back in the hope that I can positively have an effect on this game with feedback. I'm a long time fan who still plays GRAW multiplayer with a bunch of other hardcore fans and would like to see multiplayer return to its roots.

I am very happy to see that they have taken in some Ghost Recon fans for a closer look at the game and feedback which is a mistake they made in GRFS, the multiplayer turned out to be a disaster in my opinion. I wanted to ask if I could chat with you sometime Rocky in regards to your thoughts on the new title? I spent a large chunk of time on the forums submitting multiplayer feedback before GRFS was released only to see it ignored which annoyed a lot of us fans. It would be really cool to see which direction you think the game is heading in and your honest thoughts as a long time fan.

Looking forward to being a part of this community again in the lead-up to GRW.

Welcome back Frenchy. If you need help locating your old account let an Admin know.

I've just posted a AMA thread and you can email me at rocky at ghostrecon.net too if you like.

Yves Guilmont told me straight that he accepted Ubisoft had drifted away from the fans to an extent, and he was serious about correcting this and involving the fans to a much larger extent. The fact the he invited 8 of us to breakfast and gave us over an hour of his valuable time put a stamp on that commitment.

I am very happy your name is on that list, you deserve it. After the Rainbow Six Siege....its interesting to see a path where Ghost Recon might finally get back to its roots, in a modern tactical sort of way. Interesting, I was just imagining an open world sim where a 12 man Special Forces ODA engages objectives using unconventional warfare (UW) and guerilla tactics by collecting intel and hitting targets a la carte.

I am blown away that the Ubisoft dev team and the CEO actaully reached out to the hardcore milsim GR fans and actaully flew you out to Paris to be consultants/advisors on what the tactical community is looking for. Its almost like Ubisoft is asking "What made the classic Ghost Recon so sucessful and infinite in life?" Thank you for being the voice of this community and keeping it alive for so many years! It so refreshing to hear that Ubisoft is finally listening to what makes a sucessful tactical shooter.

My suggestions....

  1. MODS would make this title have such a long life like its predecessor
  2. I only hope for a larger 12 man team for MP operations and abilty to have various controlable teams with waypoints like in the classic)
  3. Optional Miltary SF uniforms would be awesome (I realize they are going for the covert SF look)

If there's anything I can do to assist you guys, let me know Rocky. Also, I'd like to interview you about Wildlands if your schedule allows for it.

Thanks Burner!

You know I love mods too, but I don't know if Ubi does LOL, as a business model they have to sustain a level of income to keep supporting the game, hence DLC rather than fan made mods.

I have to be honest that I did not get a positive vibe about user made content, but on the otherhand we did cover what kind of additional content would be best recieved.

;)Great news! Congratulations to you Rocky. It must have been a wonderful experience seeing a new GR game!

I must say I don't like the 3rd person perspective. Would love to be able to choose first person throughout the game.

Otherwise, its great to see UBI giving us BOTH franchises RS6 and GR a fresh game!

TADAAAAA!

....and he was serious about correcting this and involving the fans to a much larger extent.

So, weren't they serious all of the other times?

So Far Cry found Ghost Recon and had a little baby where Ghost Recon had the dominant gene. This shall be watched..

I once thought there'd be some influence from the original Far Cry TBH.

You're not from around here are you?

If you want to find more identical suggestions like the above, just do a search of the forums. You'll find they stretch back over ten years. :D

I agree. It was a 'wonderful experience' for me seeing GR2 at E3, and look what happened with that PC game. :-

I know the days of expecting high realism from GR games is likely gone...

And that's all you had to say.

It sure is a purdy looking game though.

Ive had more to say about it in the past but hey Ive made my peace with the fact.

I enjoyed future soldier my only real complaints outside of 'its not ogr' were diamond formation and the lack of freedom to do things as I pleased.

If they fix that I will be happy.
