When faced with a map that includes buildings, I often equip my riflemen with a G36 or G33k, since I find the two round burst preferable to semi-auto or three-round burst when clearing structures. The semi-auto of most weapons (i.e. M4) is not great for a double-tap tactic, and the three-round burst is less accurate and wasteful of ammo.

The only other issue I have with the CQB options with GR is the use of a moving reticule with assault rifles and sub-machine guns. You can't tell me that a green beret takes three or four seconds to bring a masterkey or MP5 on target and get it steady enough for a reliable shot. Someone needs to make a mod that allows point-and-shoot with the masterkey and MP5 at the very least. There is nothing more frustrating than entering a room, lining up on a tango with the masterkey or G36 and having to wait while the reticule converges, and all the while the tango has emptied an entire magazine into my fireteam.

About the reticule problem, try some specialists. Get Delta Force CQB and SOF by Argyll/Calum_Keen. Best Skin mods I've ever seen, and they come with some awesome specialists. The specialists use the standard gear for their class so there's no wishing for standard weapons. Argyll/Calum_Keen has put out some excellent specialists.

About semi and double taps. I use M4s and SAWs only, with an occasional M16 and Snowfella's Ares Shrikes. Good guns all of them. For CQB, try full auto and tactical reloading. When the mag is half empty, reload. SAWs, esp Earl's M249 Para, and the Ares Shrike CQB from Snowfella are the best CQB weapons. That and Earl's M4 masterkey and a couple of "special" M4s from someone that's not me  In any case, double taps are good. To use them get a high rof on a semi auto capable weapon and a quick finger. I can double tap just fine with the standard m4. Three round and semi are more suited to longer range combat. I'll stick with my full auto and double taps. :rocky:

THNX for the tip, I'll have to find that. Still, I like the G36 or even the AN-94, since the two round burst is a sure-fire way to get a lethal hit on the tango.

Full auto is fine for clearing large rooms, but only if my weapon has a large mag, like an LMG or the M-16 CMAG. The only other thing I wish was incorporated into the game was realistic stacking. Going into a room is really nerve-racking, especially when you know that the other guy in your fireteam is not going to sweep the part of the room that you can't clear. Hopefully other team members will help with this in MP, but for now I like grenades when faced with a really large room.

Snow, I agree with you about the ret times. It has struck me funny since I got the game that these special force operators take so long to acquire a sight picture. The only answer I can come up with is RSE/Ubi was concerned the game would be too easy with a ret time that reflects the skill of someone well trained in combat shooting. My weapon (usually the m16A2 or M4 socom) stays on semi 95% of the time.

I've tried every movement you can think of :)

None of them produce what I would call realistic times.

Try Nishi's Delta Force soldiers. The M727 and the M733 have really fast ret times. You can be running in a circle and the ret will be back to full in half a second after you stop. Good guns!
