Zeealex
hey hey gents and ladies... if there are any around. just thought I'd break the veritable ice in this section by showing off my AMAZEBALLS skin mod... HA! it's not that exciting, i think... you might find it interesting. The camo itself is hand painted and this one is specifically made for wooded areas, namely Chenarus. There's no fancy algorithms involved. just photoshop, a screenshot, and a colour picker. it works pretty well if you manage to find a bush in Takistan, not sure how or why. aanywhoPreliminary testing a test of Excam on the INDFOR uniforms: and on NATO uniforms:Concealment Tests: After preliminary testing that both uniform textures worked as expected and didn't look too bad or out of place. concealment tests took place at a variety of ranges in presumed optimal locations, this would simulate that the user of the camouflage is able to spot and utilize the camouflage in an appropriate location. <25 meters (two soldiers in this one) (camo version 1) ~50 meters: (two soldiers in this one) and two in this one ~100m (two guys in this one) two guys in this one i will need to do live testing at some point so expect a quick gameplay vid or something in the near future. y'know, because people move and stuff. if you have any comments, questions or suggestions fire away! suggestions on a name are appreciated, not digging Excam, it's just shortened for Experimental Camouflage i'll be writing up an easy follow texture guide for Arma 3 skinning as well. a majority of the config guides are packed with too much information. Parabellum
Nice Alex. Always wanted to try this but the configs always defeated me. You're welcome to poke me if you need help with configs. I've been modding BI games for over ten years, and have learned a thing or two in that time.

Zeealex
In that case are you able to tell me why the heck these guys are in different factions? They've been listed as the same but the standard guy still appears in INDFOR If its any help wombat, I use Poseidon tools for configs makes things much easier to read and troubleshoot than notepad Edited April 8, 2014 by Zeealex
Parabellum
In order to change a unit's side (faction is a separate beast altogether), you need to use the 'side' entry in your config file. For instance, side = 0; will set the unit to OPFOR. Acceptable values for units and vehicles are 0, 1, 2 and 3 for OPFOR, BLUFOR, INDFOR and Civilian respectively. Also, I use Notepad ++ w/ an SQF plugin. You can find the plugin on Armaholic. It makes things much easier when editing configuration files, rvmats or scripts. BI's tools are, for me at least, the last choice. Edited April 8, 2014 by Parabellum
Zeealex
Ooh I see ill check the configs again. Thanks! Poseidon tools are external to Bi tools. The addon builder for A3 doesnt even work! Edited April 8, 2014 by Zeealex
Zeealex
Okay dokay! the units are on the right side and in the right faction now woohoo! thanks again Para! i thought the faction class controlled the side as well, seeing as it's declared there. obviously not! lesson learned I thought, because you've only seen Excam v2 I'd show you V1, it's very... green, I feel the choice of colors in V2 are much better suited to a multitude of woodland areas. The version 1 Camo didn't account for shadows and mud enough, it was only accounting for grass and bushes, there was no way you could conceal yourself next to a tree or on the ground in the woods, using version 1 also meant that shadows were difficult to hide in, as the colors were way too bright and attracted attention almost immediately. version 2 also looks visually more appealing, the shades of blue and brown seem to work better in terms of aesthetics. I was also using the wrong platecarrier model, that's why its texture looks a little odd. V1 you can hopefully see the difference in colors immediately. probably gonna get started on a sniper, and a couple of other units, and maybe try and figure out how to get custom weapon textures working. Zeealex
Arid/Desert Version has been designed, hopefully it will blend better with environments such as Altis than the woodland version, implementation and preliminary testing will begin in the next two weeks Arid:
Zeealex
in the background is a dedicated desert uniform, it was upgraded to feature a rockier texture. in the foreground, is a multiterrain/arid uniform, which is suited more to desert environments that still have some grass on them.
