Kasey was our little black and brown dachshund dog. She turned fourteen in April, and has been with us from the age of three months. She has survived kicks from horses, trampling from cattle, getting lost overnight and crawling back to the house for half a kilometer with just her front legs, being bit by a venomous snake, being attacked by the other dogs four times, dealing with a flea infestation on her face, and suffering from cancer two years longer than we were told to expect.

Today she fell into a little blue pool of water for the third time and drowned. Yes, this is the same dog that crawled hundreds of meters on two legs, runs nonstop for miles without tiring, and has literally been on the verge of death dozens of times. The pool was about a meter in a diameter and was only a foot deep. Oh, and there were two ledges that she could have climbed onto to get out.

Moral of the story? Don't be an idiot, I guess.

It's crazy... we've had her longer than all the others but it hurt the least. I honestly think it's because of all the practice runs we've had with her dying lol... can't tell you how ridiculous I feel standing over her crying and saying goodbye then seeing her playing around with the others the next morning.

She had an awesome attitude towards life. Every time she had some kind of problem or terrible injury she would just shake it off and keep on wagging her tail. I just wish she had gone peacefully instead of finally getting beaten by our duck pond..... sigh...

Just getting old I guess and was ready to go. If it helps at all. The only pet I lost was put down due to some kind of crazy instestinal bacteria. Crapping all over the house. That was rough especially considering the he was from the 2nd litter and his half brother was the first litter out lived him by almost 3 years.

His half brother was mean too! I always wanted him to get hit by a car.

Some people wish that their pets get hit by a car, but they never do.

My class mate said that every pet dog that he had and has right now, have got hit by multiple cars and lived, he thinks that the dogs are cursed and cars attract them :S (he claims to be living near the woods in a house - we just call him forrester :D)
