Zeealex
hey guys i'll cut to the chase and say that any RSB file I created in Photoshop under Ubuntu (including novo) doesn't seem to work, this is ALL files viewed, and modified while I was using ubuntu. i currently do not have the hard drive space to accommodate ubuntu back onto the drive to fix this error i'm having. this is the error message I am given. I've tried clearing the file's properties, no joy still comes up with errors, I've tried using the RSB converter, no luck on that either. the program will open any original RSBs perfectly, and i can edit them without hassle. i'm stumped, i really don't know what to do. can anyone shed some light on this issue? Zeealex
alrighty, this is an old rsb but it still has the same issue: http://www.mediafire.com/?h7phpuss683kus6
wombat50
Opens for me. Using CS2 or Photoshop 6 on Win7 64 bit. Resaved and uploaded: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?m9hd14cbdzrc7hy Maybe try re-installing the .rsb plugin? IIRC, Hammer had a similar issue when he upgraded to a newer version of Photoshop or a different operating system. Hammer
Yep, never did figure it out either !! I get the exact same message if I try to open any of my old vehicle .rsb's or other peoples .rsbs unless I dust off my very old PC running XP and CS3. But strange as it is I have no problems opening the original game . rsb's ???? on the new system _______________________________________________________________________________________ Just a thought some people who had trouble with it before, sorted it by running photoshop in 32bit mode instead of 64bit http://www.ghostrecon.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=57203 Didn't work for me Edited April 26, 2013 by Hammer
Zeealex
thanks to you wombat so I can rule out the problem in which it will only open on the system it was created on. I dowloaded the CS6 trial version to see if the RSB plugin would act differently, it does. now I get the "not the right kind of document" error so i've got to solve that in 29 days and resave all the problem files. i'll probably put it in the main plugins folder as previously suggested in your link hammer. do you want to pass one of your .rsbs over hammer i'll see if it works on my CS5 package Edited April 26, 2013 by Zeealex
wombat50
Alex, I'm curious if you could open the file of yours I saved and uploaded. See post #4 for the link.
Zeealex
nope, tried it on CS6 trial, CS5, and CS2, all coming out with the same error
Zeealex
I've narrowed it down to a compatibility error, there's nothing else it can be, I've re-installed the RSB plugin, re-installed Photoshop, used different versions of Photoshop (check above), used different RSB versions (early- mid 2012) used a different computer, no luck. it's not a file-size issue, as even tiny files won't load. I'm going to start ruling out similarities between the two systems. at the moment I've got: Both are running Windows 7x64 (I have to run Photoshop in x32 mode) Both have AVG Antivirus. Zeealex
I've finally figured it out, a year late to the party, but I've figured it out. The plugin can't parse version 9 rsb files, which is what my old Project Novo files were saved in, it'll open version 8 files perfectly fine. which can only mean that the plugin I'm using is out of date, strange seeing as it's the one from the DL section, I'd assume that would be the most up to date.
wombat50
Having this problem would drive me nuts. Edit: Opened CS2 went to help>about plugin and selected rsb from the list. This is what I got: I had no idea about there being different versions. If you get a similar message but it refers to version 8 or 9 would you like to try my version of the plugin? Pretty sure I got it off the Island Thunder disc. I have never checked but supposedly there is a rsb plugin on the Desert Siege disc. I read this was not to be used. Zeealex
I've just checked it and by plugin is the same version as yours, so my plugin isn't out of date, but still can't parse version 9 rsbs, I actually have a feeling version 9 rsb files are all files saved with A8R8G8B8 compression, i could well be wrong. wombat50
How can the version number of the rsb be determined? Don't have a clue myself. Edited September 22, 2014 by wombat50
Zeealex
reb editor will display the rsb version in the bottom right corner. it's the only link I've been able to make between rsbs that won't open and their attributes. wombat50
Thanks Alex. I had never noticed.
ApexMods
Strange issue you got there, Alex. I'm using the same RSB plugin as Wombat (version 5.0 release 1, 4/1998), in my case from the Ghost Recon Gold Edition DVD in Photoshop CS2 under Windows XP inside a VirtualBox virtual machine on my Mac and I have no issues whatsoever opening all kinds of RSB, including A8R8G8B8 files tagged as "version 9" by the RSB Editor.
