Black Velvet, ready for beta

Hi folks,


Black Velvet v1 is now ready for testing. This mission/map is built on the Nowhere clean landscape.


The map comprises of all custom buildings 90% of these are new so haven't been seen before, I'll be

making a few of these "woodland" type maps as I'm currently making a series of wood or brick shack type

buildings.


This mission may seem a bit tame after the last one but I thought it would make a change to have a

shorter/easier mission that you can complete a bit quicker than usual.


I haven't included the sound mod as I think most of the beta testers should have it, if you need it then

let me know or download one of my latest maps from the download section.

Okay, didn't crash this time, might have been the custom skin(EricJ's) that caused it.

Everything else went well, tank was flipping table's n stuff :D at the top of the hill it will just try to run up the cliff and then it just ends up flipping on its side, for a couple of minutes it desperately tries to get back on its feet and it will eventually manage it.

Overall opinion: Great! :)

We played this on the TAW server last night and it went well, no problems. WE had 12 players and finished it in 23 min.

Another good one. I do not know how you can put these together so fast. I know how much work is involved!!!

Just one complaint: It is just a little too dark for me with my poor eyesight.

Hi John, glad to see you back :flowers: We did your mission today and everything was perfect. A very nice mission again and it took us 101 min. We have no idea how it can be done within 16? Have not seen any issue, no script and no graphik issue. FPS was high and we had no problems with the tank. The helicopter at the extract left a little bit to early...wished me 3 more minutes so I have enough time to destroy him even if it's not easy between the barracks. Some mines surprised us because some was dropped on doors, is this right? New buildings are very good. All in all a typical mission from John, perfect and good to go :cowboy: With greetings from Erika and Klaus (Kaapo)

Kaapo, it took you 101 minutes because you guys take things slow, Bob literally rushed through the mission and it's quite possible to do it within just 10 minutes, since it's a short mission on a small map.

Many thanks for testing folks.

My intention here was to make these maps so you could complete them in under an hour, I can quite believe that the TAW folks are able to finish this in 16mins as they have quite a few players plus their playing style can sometimes be faster than most, players like kaapo tend to move at a slower pace so they will take longer, there is no right or wrong way to complete these missions it's just a case of different playing styles.

I'll be making a few of these shorter/smaller maps as I think it makes a change to have some missions that you can complete a bit quicker than normal.

I'll take another look at the tank that Blame mentioned, apart from that all seems good.

I have made a start on my next map but I'm still in the process of creating some new buildings for this so it will be sometime before I have a new beta.

Thanks for the info John, Pointman and Scout. Of course with 12 players and small map it's possible. I have read ~20 min. before testing and I told Erika, take you time, count the bullets and no die. After 15 min. she asked ( :nono: ) me if I have made an joke and I said, no, stop talking and go ahead :rofl: . After another 10 minutes we realized it is not that easy as we thought. Yes, our way takes much longer because we like to miss no AI and we are always backing us up .

Now, after reading this thread again and see your comments I need to say ok, next time I will use my glases to read ;)

Played Yesterday with 2 of us on TAW server (a 3rd person joined in at the end) took 97 min. to finish. I finally got to see the laptops and the beautiful downloads of the weapons. Amazing stuff there John.

Sorry folks but due to a family crisis (my Mum is in hospital again) I'll have to put all my modding on hold until further notice.

At the moment I'm in a state of limbo waiting for test results for my Mum so I don't have the motivation to do any modding.

Thought I should let you folks know that I'm taking a break from modding.

Many things have changed in my life lately so I have zero motivation to do any modding, my interests have changed and I'm now reviving an old hobby of mine, I've been modding GRAW2 since 2009 and after 60 plus missions I feel somewhat burned out.

I may do some more missions sometime in the future but for now I'm giving it a rest.

I'll get this mission released when I can.

I would just like to say a big thanks to all that have supported me and my missions over the past 4 years.

Played this mission on TAW's server. Found nothing wrong with the mission. All spawns seemed to be correct. Mission was great fun and we played it of course with Rahnmanns weapons mod.

John, love the new buildings and the opening garage doors in your recent missions.

Awsome work, really well done.....
