Games Buyback

Recommended Posts

In a statement, community group SouthingtonSOS said there was "ample evidence" that violent video games and other media are contributing to "increasing aggressiveness, fear (and) anxiety."

What a lot of tosh, they should have asked them for ANY evidence, let alone "ample".

So, are they boycotting cinema's? Have none of them been to see Expendables, enjoyed any film that involved someone getting shot - The Magnificent Seven even?

The problem with this kind of hair brained initiative is that it exposes the participants as the hypocrits they are, trying to isolate one aspect of violent media, and blame it for individuals/societies shortcomings.

Interesting story though, thanks.

Lets not forget the scene in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly where Angel Eyes is seen repeatedly beating a woman. Funny how the media says nothing about that.

Actually upon reflection, this is GREAT!

Anyone in the area with crappy shooters, or games they have finished with, now have a great opportunity to trade their rubbish games in for a voucher, with no hastle!

I wonder if they will be offering a mail-in service for people outside of the area, we should find out!

edit....

Awe bad news, this ill-thought out campaign is only available for a short period of time,

Southington SOS has organized the game collection for Jan. 12 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Southington Drive-In Theatre on Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike.

They should have concentrated their efforts on their hurricance relief initiative, than wasting time on this.

What a swell county that must be to live in. Can you imagine the kids, seeing their Christmas presents head of the the Southington dumpster next weekend :(

In Australia the government took our guns off of us a few years back. But it didn't stop people getting shot. I would even hazard a guess to say there are more being shot now than before the gun buyback.

Just look at the news for Sydney and Victoria.

What a joke.

And take note........We could not buy the high powered weapons they can in America.

And the yanks are talking about a gun buyback I saw in the news the other day.

The weapon in my avatar is a 308 carbine I owned back in the 1970's. 5 in the mag and 1 up the spout. I could take the head off a roo at 300 yards with that thing. The ammo was more lie a dum dum type of thing. The lead had a metal jacket around it but the tip was soft nosed. Man that thing packed a punch.

My brother had a 306, but I recon the old 08 was better. Easier to carry and snuggled into the shoulder more comfortably.

But in OZ that's about all we did with weapons......Shoot roos and hares. Apart from the man on the land who needed a weapon for sick stock etc.

There's an old saying........."It's not the gun that kills. It's the idiot pulling the trigger!"
