EricJ
Seems that you're the man with the plan... I brought this topic up in mission design, but I'm looking for a Afghan style map, with some missions in mind. I'm aiming for single-player and not a plethora of enemies (I don't care about co-op but you know...) at least for the SP missions. Can you help? Blame
I've played every single Custom made mission in this game and I can tell you that I can remember only 1 Afghan related mission that I already stated out for you, but you could make a suggestion to John to make a mission you would like and others will appreciate. EricJ
Oh I have ideas (personal or otherwise) just I want to find somebody interested first... Edited December 23, 2012 by EricJ
mexicobob
I have no idea what an Afghan type mission would be. We would probably need an all new landscape and different uniforms for the AI. By the way EricJ. I was in the 1st Eng. Battalion of the 1st Infantry Division at Ft Riley Kansas in 1960. Thank you for your service. Edited December 24, 2012 by mexicobob
EricJ
No problem, I'm now in the MD ARNG but was with 1-4 Cav in Iraq and 1-26 in Afghanistan, and thank you for yours as well  I can point you to some books on some historical anecdotes as well as some references from my own experience there. To me it doesn't matter, a person with a gun (no matter what nationality) trying to kill you is still a target Buuut... you'd have to look at new weapons (AK-47 as well). And maps just need to be mountainous, or the southern plains.
JohnTC02
Like Bob mentioned I wouldn't know where to start when creating an Afghan type mission, plus unlike most of you folks I'm not a military person either so I'm at a disadvantage before I start. While I have created 40+ buildings and many props for the game in 3d max making new weapons and landscapes would require a lot of work, making weapons from scratch requires a fair amount of skill in 3d max, something I don't have. AFAIK there is only one other person making buildings/props for this game and that is Spik@ but I'm not sure if he will have the time, most of the skilled modellers have moved on to new things. Blame
I remember seeing a topic under the weapon modding forum that was made like years and years ago, somebody was working on the AK-47 model I believe.
EricJ
Well I sent Bob a couple links to books that can show some terrain and some vignettes from the Soviet-Afghan war. Since he hasn't replied back it is what it is. But... you can still adapt the scenarios to the Hechos (no big deal) to make it work. If you want the link I can post it here. franglen
I don't know if it can be adapted or imported into GRAW2 for your needs but there is a "Afghanistan Chaos" Campaign in the original Ghost Recon. I wouldn't have a clue where to begin, but from what I have seen from the BRILLIANT work of modders in the GR Series on this site surely someone has the know how. Hope it helps and a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all. Franglen
Tinker
Most of the stuff in the editor would be fine for an afgan mission. John can probably build the new props if needed. I am struggling, but learning landscape creation, would happily work on 1 map here and dig in to make it work.
franglen
If I remember correctly the bad guys even had the towels around their heads. From what I've seen of your work If anyone can do it you and John can do it Tinker. Have fun!

EricJ
Managed to whip up an idea for a map design: http://562.50megs.com/GRAW2/night%20raid.jpg Not very imaginative, but may be subsituted from the "Rosen" map.... Basic stoyline is your team goes to raid a village (which may or may not have hostiles) and then you have to hit the mountains for another crawl. I assume a helo insertion but most of the area as maybe can be told, is rural with the mountains with caves and such.
Spik@
Sounds great! I guess some maps from Ghost Recon - Desert Siege would be perfect to make an Afghan-style mission. I do not have to skills to convert this map to/for GRAW2. Also making some new weapons, like russian-made weapons(AK47, AK74, AKS74-U, etc). Again,...I wouldn't know where to start with modelling these. As for props and/or buildings I am more than willing to make some when they are needed. TAW_pdanoe
Managed to whip up an idea for a map design: http://562.50megs.co.../night raid.jpg How about the map from Annibales "Pigs vilage" ? I know, this mission was never going public, but you can find it here http://rapidlibrary.com/files/annibale19-closecombat-adv-rar_ulzztwczvbi89on.html go a little down in the page. I think this map looks a lot like what you are describing. Annibale, as far as I know, stopped his activity in graw2.
EricJ
Ehhh... I'll just start working on maps myself as the download stuff for there is a bit too much, if it was here on GR.net I'll take a look.
