teppe
Well now i wan't to know, is it possible to wound the player when like 5000 secs elapsed?
Zeealex
nope, not that i know of i spent AGES trying to figure it out to no avail.
RileyFletcher_01
Drop him from a 3m-tall effect and he'll have a nice leg wound. No joke, I've done it.
Tinker
Teleport to a effect at 3M height as suggested. Fade to black then teleport maybe?
Blame
Half a meter drop is enough Used to get leg injuries in the original campaign because of such a small drop.
RileyFletcher_01
So I guess you've scripted this kind of thing a lot, huh? For the record, half a meter does NOT work.
Blame
I wasn't talking about scripting? I guess not, so what's the problem again?
teppe
If you're not talking about Scripting, then i in fact don't think you should post here.
RileyFletcher_01
The problem is that a half metre fall does not work so once again you've succeeded in making a totally pointless post.
MrMoon
Hi teppe I'm curious what sort situation are you trying to simulate using such a script? Poison or something like that?
teppe
hehe Well, i've having this night idea, and i know how to do it, and really, it takes around a age to explain for now, so i leave it there. BUT, my plan is, that if the player have like spend a week in rainy terrain, he may get leg wounds or something like that, because of the injuries, or well, not much injury like that, more sick and stuff like that. Tinker
Para drop, teleport to effect in tree top, and drop to ground. If I remember correct, anything above 3M drop should kill the player. Also, after running off a 2.5M ledge several times gave a random result. Sometimes no injuries but dropped straight down, other times entered a leap forward movement. Sometimes received either 1 or 2 leg damage, on the odd occasion died. Something you will have to finely tweak with testing.
MrMoon
Well its possible that spending too long in an icey river on a winter map could indeed make you ill and slow you down or effect your aim and this could then transfer well to campaign mode where your team mate would remain sick/wounded till he had fully recovered after the next mission. Although this might be something better suited to big open world games rather then small spec ops missions but who knows how well it could turn out
teppe
hehe correct Mr Moon! I know it sounds better to open world games, but in fact i'm trying to make my mods as much open world as possible! I Know not everybody like that style, but i love it. MrMoon
Will be interesting to see how that turns out
Tinker
Not really sure what is going on here, but a fade to black gives a good second or 2 to make something happen unseen to the actor in hand. Any kind of shock/suprise can cause a momentery fade to black in RL.
tod0001
I tried for hours to wound an actor. Picking them up and dropping them is not reliable enough. At the height suggested, there is only a chance of injury(9 out of 10 times= no damage.) I drop them higher and,,,splat.... I was scripting a mission and was trying to produce an injured computer ally.
RileyFletcher_01
I've successfully done it for a CENTCOM addon and it was reliable......what height did you use?
tod0001
Let me try again..... It was a week ago.... *Edit 5 drops from 3.1 meters = no damage. Still trying.... 5 drops from 5.1m = no damage. 8 drops from 7.1m = no damage. 8 drops from 9.01m= no effect..aarggh! 5 drops from 11.01m= nothing, no limp, nothin. 5 drops from 13.01m = nothing. 5 drops from 15.01 = 3 deaths and 2 no damage/limp. tod0001
5 drops from 16.01= 3 deaths and 2 no effect.... 5 from 17.01 = 3 deaths and 2 no damage.... This is a computer guy that I am teleporting to an effect and dropping on the Embassy map.
RileyFletcher_01
Not sure what you are doing, but..... Saw your new post. 10 drops from 3.01m = consistent, reliable damage to one leg every try 10 drops from 5.01m = consistent, reliable damage to both legs every try 10 drops from 7.01m = consistent, reliable damage to both legs every try I am 99% sure that it has something to do with the actor you are using. Try it with the player's actor, that is who we have been using.
tod0001
LOL!!! I just thought of that and looked and saw your post. I have been using a computer actor. Works fine on player controlled actor.... Edited January 3, 2013 by tod0001
