teppe
Will it be possible in igor (just like it's possible in IGOR to suddenly make rain and then sun etc) to make both night and day lighting? I mean, so in a mission i can make like 30 min is equal to one day, so that then it will be dark in 30 min etc, is that possible to do in igor? If not, plz say! Zeealex
Nope, the lighting is controlled by darkmaps, you cannot actively change the darkmaps in play.
teppe
and now i'm just thinking, will it be possible to change like a rain texture (you can change weather in igor) to darkness? Will that work?
RileyFletcher_01
No.
teppe
Are you sure? I don't want to get annoying, but there simply must be ONE way to do it - i mean, if the rain texture could be changed to dark dark, sorry for asking again, i just think, are you sure that wouldn't be possible? Any other idea you could think on?
wombat50
I have not done it but you can change fog settings in a mission. I think it is allot of scripting but AS did it in a tournament mission to go from clear skies to sandstorm over a period of time. Might do something like that to simulate day to night. teppe
Thanks! Can you remember which mission it was?

teppe
Ok, it was 0,0,0 that was the combination to black - but now i don't know how to change the skyes, any help?
RileyFletcher_01
You CANNOT change the sky during a mission. Also about the rain texture, I really doubt it would work because your whole screen would just be filled with black darts in place of the raindrops. Totally weird looking. teppe
ahhh ok... The mission in AS mod crashes when i play it, so which trick did they actually use?
RileyFletcher_01
They just changed the fog from like grey to tan and made it get closer and closer. Not that incredible. They do some cool things for lightning flashes though, look in Texas Militia mission nine to see how it is done. Maybe you need to start a single thread called 'Teppe's Ideas' So there aren't six hundred threads with me saying "No." in each one.
teppe
wait... you said you coduln't "Change" the skies, but can you make them in different colours, turn them off OR take the sun away?
RileyFletcher_01
Let me make this simpler. 1. You CANNOT change any textures during a mission. That includes all skies, lighting, etc. 2. You CANNOT change models during a mission. That includes the sky file. 3. You CAN change fog to simulate weather changes, look at Texas Militia missions 1 and 9 to see how to change the fog and make your own lighting effect, respectively. teppe
4 Q and A will it be possible to make the fog like making a keind of "room" about the map, so it will hide the skies?
RileyFletcher_01
No.
Zeealex
i'm beginning to think one of should make a thread, detailing what we can and cannot do in Igor/Ghost Recon. to be honest teppe, even if there was a weather change with fog to make it look like night, the sudden changes will be noticed, and it will look a bit odd. teppe
i actually have finded out how to do
ApexMods
You could change to dense dark fog gradually over time, making it denser and darker as time moves on and then later removing it just as gradually. It still won't be anywhere near perfect due to the unchanged (and unscriptable) light mapping, but at least you have some options to play around with, and you can try to pick a more "forgiving" darkmap for this purpose. teppe
I have finded out how to dark the skies, or make a block or something like that, so it can look like night. 7 min = darker 10 - min =DARK 15 min = Morning What you guys ('n girls) think about this? So in a mission it can be both day and night! I love it!
teppe
Oh well... actually i'm unsure if this is possible... Will people please check out pond mission G01 Souns of silence, and tell me, if it's the script causing the skies, or it's the map
RileyFletcher_01
Have you looked at it yourself? Maybe you should look around in IGOR and see if you can figure it out.
Giampi
I'm the scripter of G01 - Sound of Silence so it's quite easy for me to explain. Everything is done through a couple of line of script as below Group: Group - fog Comment: fog block Trigger Event: 0 second(s) elapsed. Responses: Allow this block to be reactivated. Increment Counter - fog. Turn on fog with color 60,64,65 between (The result of (The result of (The number (The value of Counter - fog)) divided by 4.67) plus -5) and (The result of 45 plus (The result of (The number (The value of Counter - fog)) divided by 3.5)) meter(s). Change the maximum spotting distance to (The result of 40 plus (The result of (The number (The value of Counter - fog)) divided by 6)). Continue executing responses if ((The value of Counter - fog) is greater than 250). Enable the Group - fox maintenance script blocks. Prevent this block from being reactivated. Group: Group - fox maintenance Comment: fog steady Trigger Event: 0 second(s) elapsed. Responses: Allow this block to be reactivated. Turn on fog with color 60,64,65 between 48 and 116 meter(s). Change the maximum spotting distance to 82. Essentially every second I changed the fog intensity and spotting distance. After a certain time fog is steady.
