Scorch3013
So is there a way where I can replace the ingame chatter, "Kill confirmed." "He's history." "We've got a casualty." etc with my own recorded voice-overs? I've thought about getting myself and two other friends to do our own battle chatter, how hard would that be to replace after recording and mixing the voices? ApexMods
For enemy killls, just replace the "t[m/f][1-2]_enemy_killed_generic[1-5].wav" in the folders "sound">"[m/f]_voice_[1-3]" with your recordings. Make sure to save them as WAV format, Linear PCM, 16-bit little-endian signed integer, 1 channel, 22050 Hz. All other chatter like "We've got a casualty" works the same. Scorch3013
So just do all of that in my own mod's sound folder and it will replace the origmiss ones?
Zeealex
yep! you might need to reconcile them though don't quote me, Apex is the Expert Edited July 12, 2012 by Zeealex
wombat50
As long as you are using the original file names there is no need to reconcile in the Igor/Sound Volume Editor. The original sound folders has three Male Voice folders. Set your sound folder up the same way. Also has one folder for Female Voice. ApexMods
Exactly. This goes for basically all files in GR. If you keep your mod folder organized like the original folders, the files in your mod override the original ones (provided they have the exact same name). Only when you add completely new sounds with new file names you'll need to add them to the game's sound effects database, either manually by adding entries to the corresponding XML files or through IGOR (which seems to not always be 100% reliable in this regard). Tinker
Igor sound editor is fine. The main problem is, most people leave a sound or 2 in the sound folder that is already listed in another mod, or the original game, when reconciling. This causes the duplicate entry in the xml files. Not hard to have a sound mod set up with nothing in it. Drop the sounds needed into the folder and reconcile, The effects.xml will generate.
