Ever wondered what happens when you mix a 20 year old engine and cutting edge material generation tech? 🤔 I guess we're about to find out...

Project Novo is listed in the Credits of PLEASE READ ME.HTML found in the main directory of HU V9.

Then it's increasingly likely that some aspects were used for HU  Nice spot Wombat and Shakealeg!

They do that with Street Legal Racing: Redline... most of the time it crashes when you go out into the open world with AI, but it is ok if you are alone without AI.

The game is still fun though because you are still able to build your entire car from the ground-up, and repair it after you smash it and things like that.

*shug* offtopic. >_>

XD yeah, high res is awesome! it's a shame i don't have 3ds and the skills to use it, can you imagine it? pushing the game's engine to the absolute limit?

Absolutely, it would be actually a brand new gfx experience.

it would be definitely, the thing is though, is what people can make up for in the new graphc experience, people wil lose in framerate, it's something i've noticed using high res, high detail full colour .rsbs and high poly objects is the framerate dips something terrible despite the more than capable PC.

and as oelmuvun stated, it could also force the engine to crash at certain areas, however if someone was able to balance the engine, it won't be a problem

EDIT: no real updates today i'm afraid, i'm currently in a backup process so I can get ready to give Ubuntu a long awaited system Update.

Right, quick update then back to work

The good News:

provided all goes well over the holiday and after college when it starts:

ProjectNovo.jpg

it's not set in stone, if things end up going slower than normal then you can expect a delay.

if things go BETTER than expected, you can expect it earlier.

Wombat50's done some truly amazing work on D08 Tank, i will have to get screenies.

Bad News:

this happens when I boot GR:

***** User's system configuration *****

CPU: AuthenticAMD 3113 MHz Recent AMD

RAM: 2048 MB

O/S: Microsoft Windows 2000 5.1 Service Pack 3 build 2600

Ghost Recon (RELEASE) version = 1.4.0.0(0)

RSDirect3DRenderer::BuildDeviceList: No compatible adapters found

RSDirect3DRenderer: Could not build device list

RSDisplayMgr::CreateRenderer: Could not initialize renderer

RSUIMgr::Initialize() : Could not initialize mDisplayMgrIkeGameMgr::Initialize() : Could not initialize UI_MGR: -1

:wall: i knew that would happen, i'll check wine it could have nutted it.

not to worry, it means i need to test from my laptop from now on as all ;)

Hi Alex,

I would like to start by saying well done with this project, Theres alot of hours been put into these textures

But i have to ask the question ? Has anybody tested these retextured map on a lower spec PC? Now on my game rig it runs great, the reason i ask, is that when Tinker was doing Rockall we did alot of high res textures for the mod. but we found that some people were running into lag issues in both SP and more so in MP, they were usally assocaited with lower spec PC,s and lap tops. Tinker ended up using Mid range textures but included the high res as a zip file for people to use if they wanted too. I notice in your mod, the file sizes jump quite a lot from the original sizes and i have only looked at the maps M01 jumps from 18MB to 103MB and M02 16MB to 140MB. So i was just asking if you have encountered any issuse ?

And please, dont think im slagging it off im not, I think its a great idea, Almost makes me want to dig out my old modding PC agian .

haha thanks Hammer, and i am about to start using a low spec machine for main testing as the game does not want to load on my main system any more.

so i will let you know how the low spec tests go and find out some good bits of advice on how to cop the low frame rates people may experience, without losing texture quality, available in an information document in the final release.

I can safely say, however that most modern PCs should be able to play it with virtually no issue.

Framerate drops on a low spec PC is the main concern of the mod, i may do something like Rockall, only the other way around for lower spec machines. y'know, High res for the main mod with a mid range texture mod as well.

I know most people on here have good PC's but when we started testing at 9MS we found a few people have never really upgraded there PCs because all they play is GR we have one guy who regulary joins us from Hong Kong on a laptop. There are a lot of people out there that play GR on old PCs because they cant afford the constent (or so it seems) up grades to play the new titles. lets face it one of the great things about GR is it will run on practically any spec system I remember playing GR on a pentum 1.8ghz chip with 1GB ram and a 256MB GFX card and we played on-line coop on US servers on 56k dail up connections at 3.00am in the morning  Im suddenly feeling old lol

Keep up the good work

just done alow spec test on a laptop with specs:

Intel Celeron M 1.6ghz.

1Gb RAM

Intel 945GM chipset

Ubuntu 12.04LTS

the game is pretty much unplayable, the framerate is stupidly slow and wine cuts the cord as soon as i start the missions.

However, this laptop can barely run firefox 7 without freezing.

and cool i wont include Enb then.

it does what i need it to do

Test for crashes?

LOL I couldn't resist, done teasing you now. Anyway my only computer (laptop) is terrible. It was a Vista but I upgraded to Win7, but it is a sucky laptop in general. Locks up at random times, and I have to power it down, sometimes the toolbar just locks up for long periods of time, and it lags on Ghost Recon's slowest missions. I might clean out my hard drive again, that helped the lag.

Revised System Requirements...

As hammer has stated, low spec systems may not run this mod very well.

To give a fair idea of what system will be able to run this I've thought up of some revised Requirements.

Processor: 1.6ghz single core

RAM: 1GB

VRAM:128mb Dedicated

Directx 8.1 or higher.

That should be enough to process the new textures within the Mod. If not, let me know, if OTT let me know too.

Ghost Recon offers many built-in performance measurements that are accessible via the console. IIRC the "ToggleShowTextureMemoryStats" command displays exactly how much texture memory is used.

Well if someone is playing games in 2012 wich such piece of ###### PC, he/she should play original GR, and not try a re-texturing mod such as this one.
