Dead Space 3. Enough said.

Gotta love playing coop on DS3 with inexperienced players....

Joined this one guy yesterday, starting part way through Chapter 13. I'm already seeing signs this other guy is likely a devout CoD player, the dude's running around spraying bullets everywhere. I mean who cares for accuracy anyway right? We get to the Snowbeast boss fight. This lasted us atleast an hour, but should've taken around five minutes. I stasis the thing up, run for the generator, switch it on so the harpoon guns are active, and spin around to wait for the Snowbeast to walk into the sights of the harpoon guns. Of course, this other guy is right down the other end of the area, fighting the Snowbeast down there, wasting his ammo on it.... And shooting it point blank range with a rocket launcher, killing himself. Sigh. Checkpoint restart. Same ######. Checkpoint restart. Same ######. I guess he forgot to pack his safety guard. Checkpoint restart.... Now this guy comes over to the area covered by the harpoon guns. Now maybe we can make progress.... Harpoon guns get a lock, I run for the torque controls before the Snowbeast breaks free. I start torquing the lines on the harpoon guns, only to get raped by Slashers every five seconds, thus loosing my grip on the lines. Evidently, this guy has no idea of the concept of covering fire, there his is still shooting the Snowbeast while the harpoon guns have it locked down. Dafuq? It goes on like this over and over and over. I've used up my meds trying to keep the lines torqued while getting raped by Slashers, he's wasted all his ammo and is just running away from the Snowbeast now. Then he gets killed. Checkpoint restart..... Nearly an hour later, nearly an hour of the same ######, the guy finally follows me to the toque controls when we have the Snowbeast locked down again.... but he's still not providing covering fire. So I let go of the torque controls, blast every ing Necromorph in sight while he takes up the controls. I'm speedloading my weapons keeping these guys off his back.... and, the Snowbeast gets ripped apart by the harpoon guns. That is how to lay down covering fire.

And don't get me started on Chapter 14 onwards.... meh. This dude must think he's Leeroy Jenkins or some ######, keeps running off ahead, then gets incapped by enemies in that area. I'm quite the opposite, I play by sound, and can identify which enemies are approaching by sound alone, then I plan my angle of attack based on that. Not this dude, I hang back while he runs straight into Cysts and Feeders. I runs straight into the middle of a room full of Feeders, gets mauled on all sides by a massive horde of Feeders.... Then there's me, using the doorway as a chokepoint, funneling them in a narrow path where their numbers count for nothing. I didn't take a single hit. So this guy runs back to my position, half dead, I'm trying to cover him and he's trying to circle-strafe the remainder of the Feeders, passing into my line of fire several times, so then I can't shoot.

So then we get back outside and we have a gunship pursuing us. Or rather, the gunship was persuing him, as he took off out the door straight away. Fine by me of couse, seeing as the gunship was focusing on him, so I had a free run straight up to the door out of that area, and I even passed the guy on the way. Just as I get through the door the guy gets incapped halfway down the slope. Dafuq was he doing going back again? So I run all the back, while the gunship was still only shooting at the now incapped other guy and I revived the guy while now getting blasted by the gunship myself.... Don't know why I bother with coop sometimes.

Dead Space 3: Awakened DLC trailer:

Hit pause dead on the 0:12 mark.... Norton has become a Necromorph. Funny that, I could have swore I emptied a whole flamethrower canister into him, chopped him up with a Ripper, stomped on what remained of him for 10 minutes straight, then threw every bit of him off the cliff to make sure he wouldn't become a Necromorph.

Coming March 12th.

So, the Awakened DLC has been released today, however, for Xbox it isn't yet on the Marketplace - you'll find it up for grabs in the Downloadable Content section of the main menu of the game. Here's a heads up for those who want to play but haven't yet:

- This is not like DS2: Severed whereby your upgrades were reset from the start, all your weapon and RIG upgrades/loadouts from vanilla DS3 do carry over into Awakened.

- All pre-order 'exclusive' content is no longer exclusive: Witness the Truth pack, First Contact pack, EG-900 SMG and Tesla Enervator are now all available for download. I'm testing out a dual EG-900 (upper and lower) to replace my vanilla dual SMG. The EG-900 quite simply rools da nation.

- Stalkers now have a completely new appearance, they are more humanoid and vaguely resemble humans wearing RIGs if you look closely.

- It would appear the DLC also contains some bug fixes for the vanilla game. At least, the damage on the previously way overpowered Chain Lightening Gun has been nerfed. I have one as a lower weapon on one of my assault builds and it used to be able to one-hit kill any enhanced Necros - it could even two-hit kill Alien Necros provided it was limbshots. And that was on Normal difficulty. This is no longer the case, the first enhanced Pukers I encountered in the DLC on Casual difficulty (playing easiest difficulty so as to stockpile ammo/meds/resources etc FTW) were still standing after two direct hits from the Chain Lightening Gun; Alien Necromoprhs were still advancing on my position after three direct hits. This could also mean other stupidly overpowered weapons in the game have been nerfed, such as the Rivet Chaingun and the Rocket Launcher (if so, about time too.) Either that, or in the DLC the Necros are much tougher.

- The Pack are back, albeit with new models. Yes I know, in vanilla DS3 Feeders replace The Pack, but these are not Feeders with new models and new soundbytes, these are most definitely The Pack.

- The disappearing bot bug doesn't seem to have been fixed. I'm still at 2 bots (I collected all 3 bots in vanilla DS3 before completing the game solo. I then did the game coop and after the Prologue, I suddenly only had 2 bots. The third was NEITHER deployed NOR docked at the time of doing the Prologue coop, and it certainly has never returned. Many others on the DS3 wiki also report this bug. However, since starting the DLC, I have not re-revisited the 3 locations where you find the bots in game (Chapter 5, Chapter 8 and Chapter 13) to see what gives.

- At this time I can't answer whether or not the DLC contains new suits and/or additional bots, as I have not yet found either.

But whatever, back to the stompathon. They are hungry! They are coming!

Well, completed it. No new suits and no additional Scavenger Bots... Yet. Then again, I have missed 2 collectibles on Awakened Chapter 2. There could be a new bot at the location of one of those collectibles, and finding all Awakened collectibles could unlock a new suit. We'll see. The boss fight with a *certain person* was unexpected (prior to the boss fight with the Unitologist cult leader), but fortunately turned out to be a hallucination.

Additional info to above heads up info:

- The shotgun has also been nerfed. It seems the devs have decreased the overall damage and increased the knockback on it. More often than not now, EVEN ON CASUAL, it will simply knock enemies down much like the Force Gun. Two or three direct hits are now required to kill standard enemies it seems. Either that or they've increased the spread - I've not tested out the pellet spread in the WCA (Weapon Crafting Arena) yet, so I can't really comment on this yet.

EDIT: Interesting. I don't want to be accused of misinformation, but it could in fact be more a fact of the enemies in the DLC being tougher. There seems to be no change to the shotgun or Chain Lightning Gun's damage in the Weapon Crafting Arena. I'm going to test those weapons in the vanilla game to see what gives.
