Russian Player: Expanded Edition - general topic

@ wombat50:

When I put out the mod from the mod folder and move it to, for example, desktop - IGOR is working. But when I put it again in the mod folder - IGOR starts to crash. I am very concerned about it, because that means that there are some problems with my mod.

About the quick missions - they are working now. I don't know for how long though...

Maybe it's because I deleted all the files, like you said?

-Does the ike.log say anything or give a clue when your mod is in the GR mod folder and Igor crashes?

It may point to a file that has been edited that has syntax errors.

Would it be possible to upload your mod so I can download it and see if I can find the cause?

@ wombat50:

I have got good news! I managed to fix it! It turned out that the reason of this whole mess with IGOR was an invalid ".atr" specialist file in my mod. I fixed this file and now everything is working fine. Thank you for your advices about the "ike.log" file.

I have got some questions - if someone can answer them - please do it here.

1. Where is the file with the game credits? And is it possible to edit it?

2. What program would you recomend to change the audio to in - game - working quality? For example, when I have got an audio file from You Tube or something like that.

1. Ghost Recon\Data\Shell\strings.res. It is VERY complicated to edit the .res file and change the credits, you would have to get a good hex-editing program, and then figure out how to change all of the credits. I think Tinker did it in the 9ms mod, you might check that out if it is available for download.

2. I use THIS converter. Ambient sounds, music, voices, should be converted to this:

.WAV

22050hz

Stereo

Gun sounds, like this:

.WAV

22050hz

Mono

Thank you for the converter, but I have got a problem with the new music: I converted it from ".mp3" into ".wav", 22050 Hz, stereo - but when I launch the game, it crashes instead of playing this music.

If you give the track a name that is different from the RSE music files it needs to be reconciled in the Sound Volume editor in Igor. The sound volume editor writes a new effects.xml to your sound folder. It is best to separate tracks with new names and those that use RSE names in your sound folder. For new names make a folder named new or XML for example. Reconcile these files with the Sound Volume Editor.

For sound files that use RSE names make a folder called old or nonXML in your sound folder. Do not reconcile them. The reason is you don't want to reconcile RSE file names as they are listed in a .xml file found in the sound folder of Origmiss, MP1 or MP2. Reconciling them would cause a conflict or crash.

@ rileyfletcher_01:

There's a line from the "Ike.txt":

RSWaveFile: Unable to parse header c:\red storm entertainment\ghost recon\mods\russian player mod\sound\music\afteract_vic.wav

@ wombat50:

I am using the same RSE music files names for my music.

Offtopic: Riley, do you convert your compositions on some software or do you keep the midi sounds? If the latter, I would suggest to you Fruity Loops. The demo version allows you to import .mid, change all the tracks for better quality ones and then export. I use it to compose, so I suppose it might interest you.

Format for afteract.wav is stereo, 22050 Hz, 16 bit PCM(.wav)

I recall a guy that had trouble with a music file crashing in this format.

He set the rate to 44100 Hz and it solved the issue for him.

I would only set the rate higher if I had to. It is a larger file size and enough of them at this rate

might cause lag in an online game. Before I thought better of it I did this with a team sound mod

and it caused lag for some of my team mates.

Unfortunately, nothing is working. I have got a music file, in ".wav", Stereo, 22050 Hz, 705kb/s, file is set to "Read Only" - and it's not working. The game crashes instead of playing this music. The "Ike.txt" still "says" the same:

RSWaveFile: Unable to parse header c:\red storm entertainment\ghost recon\mods\russian player mod\sound\music\afteract_vic.wav

I converted my file from a ".mp3" music file downloaded from You Tube.

Also, I can't change the bits in the converter.

The file crashed here too on winning the round. Have seen this before, you need to try a different sound convertor.

I converted it to mp3, then converted it back to the exact same format it was originally, now it plays fine. I use an older program though called Cool Edit Pro, but Audacity is free and should work just fine.

Sound file in working order

I like Audacity too.

Something I overlooked for a time was the project rate window in the lower left hand corner.

If a file that is imported or opened that has a rate of 44100Hz you can make it 22050Hz by changing it

in the project rate window. When exported it it will be saved having a rate of 22050Hz.

Some formats will not open using the File/open menu.

In this case go to File/import/raw data

An example are .wss files that Arma2 uses.

To make effects to tracks the track must be highlighted by clicking on it and the stop button must be gray and not yellow.

Hi everyone!

First, I would like to inform you that missions from 1 to 10 (including 10) + mission 15 are already done. :)

Second, I apologize for not being so active here, but right now I'm, unfortunately, very busy and I have got a lot of other things to do, so I won't be able to work on the mod that much. However, it doesn't mean that the mod is "dead" - I will work on it more later, when I will have got some more free time.

  • 3 weeks later...

To everyone,

I was not active over here for a long time - that's because I had some very important exams this week, and before them I was studying a lot, so I didn't have time to work on a mod. Now I am going for about a week to my great-grandmother, and she doesn't have got a computer, so I won't be able to do anything with a mod over there. But don't worry - when I will come back, I will continue the work on the mod.

Regards everyone.
