People can't join

So, I have a server set up. I have forwarded the pertinent ports (UDP + TCP 2346-2349) and I have added an exception for GR in my firewall. BUT no one can join my server. This is doubly confusing, because I had it set up and working before I reformatted my harddrive, but no it won't go.

Any ideas?

Tough call with the limited information here. Software firewalls, hardware firewalls (in routers etc.), and port settings come into play on both sides of the connection, so maybe the problem lies with your friends.

For port forwarding info you may want to head over to PortForward.com. They have a comprehensive register of routers and instructions how to set them up for specific games (e.g. like this).

Anyhow, there's a simple solution that should do away those headaches. I suggest you and your friends try the GamerRanger client (free software and membership) which should take care of all those issues for you. The added benefits are that there's always other GR servers in GameRanger for you to play on, and if you chose to open your own server to others you may find some new friends to play GR with on the GameRanger network.
