Hosting problems on Mac connected via Airport

Recommended Posts

I have a G4 800mhz iMac, connected via airport to a cable modem. I have port mapped 2346 - 2348. I can get one player in to the game. The other players can see the game but cannot get in. We even gave 2 guys the IP address with :2346, etc., but they cannot get in. What am I doing wrong here? Does anyone else host with an airport? Thanks!!!

Thanks for the response. I don't think it is a version issue, cause if one of the other guys hosts, we all get in no problem. I think this is an Airport port mapping issue. We are really close, but it is not happening. I am hoping someone with an ABS will see this and maybe have figured it out.... Thanks again for the input - I did read that post earlier tonight while looking to see if this problem had been addressed.

Thats the only thing I can think of if one of your buds can get in.

Unfortunately, we dont have alot of MAC players, at least not that I've seen.

What message are the others getting when they try to join?

IIRC as long as GR of Mac is up to date, with the expansion packs DS and IT, you should be able to join a direct IP game. The internet tab in game is for you to add IP addresses of servers that you like to play on. There are several topics here at GR.net that deal with playing GR on Macs. GL.

I don't know a whole lot about Mac games but, can you configure or look at the airport setup? Through a web interface or so? When you say that it works when the one person hosts it, is it running off the same airport?

Ok I have done some work with wireless before and I noticed that mac airport uses 802.11G. It also says its compatable with 802.11B if you are useing 802.11B it uses the 3.14 Gightz frequency range. That range is used by most cordless phones nowdays. You may be getting dropped packets due to interfierence. Just something to think about.
