ebaleytherogue
I have successfully set up a server and have played a few games on it, but I have a question about matches versus rounds. I can find no clear indication about how these variables function, within the 'dedicated_game_info.xml'. I take it that the 'match' is the entire game that will be played on any given map. I understand that a round would be a sub-set of that, a single round in the match. Thus, both 'match_length' and 'round_length' make sense, from that perspective. What I do not understand is how one can set the number of rounds that exist within a match. Is it always two rounds, per match, meaning the 'match_length' should always be double the 'round_length'? Or, if I set the 'match_length' to a value three times as great a 'round_length', will there end up being three rounds in the match? Thanks for any clarification, Ghosts. ebaleytherogue
Note that, I realize the number of rounds, per match, might be a function of the number of points the players have reached that would qualify the match to end. I.E., is it such that, if during round 1, a player achieves the number of points necessary to win the match, then the match simply ends, without proceeding to the next round? If so, then that makes sense. If that is true, then my follow-up question is: I see in this forum the discussion of a 'sb_server_settings.xml' file. I see, within that file, the '"match_points"' variable. It makes sense, to me, that setting this value determines the points necessary to win the match. Question: How do the points system work? E.g., how many points are awarded for a kill? for a wounding? Thanks. Edited July 17, 2011 by JohnTC02 Removed unnecessary quote
