Tinker
Are there a good anti virus product that can be fully installed without connecting to the internet? I have purchased Titanium Maximum Security for 3 PC`s a while back. But this program will not install fully without connecting to the internet. Recently removed it from 1 PC and installed MS security essentials same deal! Anyone have a free, or paid for program, that will fully install before connecting to the internet? Plus why have an anti virus if your not going to connect to the net ? And if you mite put content on that PC you downloaded from anther PC that is connected dos'nt that one already have an anti virus suit ? Rocky
Hammer I think Tinker wants to secure his new OS before connecting to the WWW for the first time, which is a good call. I did it by installing AVG after downloading the full free version to a pendrive. Not sure if you can still do that, probably can. Now I use only free MS stuff for protection though. ROCO*AFZ*
With windows 7, the firewall will keep the malware and viruses from auto infecting as long as you choose that the internet is public. Also if not directly connected, your router/firewall keeps the bad things out. Install security essentials 1st and be on your way. You will have less gaming issues with MS security essentials due to it's low overhead. It's not like XP (pre firewall) that was open and got auto infected. BTW you can update security essentials without the internet, just not the initial install due to validation and such. http://www.ghacks.net/2010/06/08/update-microsoft-security-essentials-on-computers-without-internet/
