ApexMods
First of all, stop doing things out of boredom! Well, at least don't tell during your presentation! Ever so often your posts here are accompanied by your hallmark "I did this because I was bored" statement, with which you - quite frankly - degrade your own contributions. Boredom as sole motivation would hardly capture your classmates' attention and interest. If you passionately like what you do, whether it is photography or fish keeping, you should try to translate your enthusiasm into words and share it with your audience. Explain why YOU like what you do, lay out your personal fascination with the subject, and thereby offer people a reason to become fascinated by it, too. Zeealex
oh well i'm sorry for not having a life photography is more of a passion than a passtime. when i take photos i'm not usually bored. i'm quite occpied in finding a suitable location or subject. but i probably need to tone down the boredom thing usually i can't find the wording to describe what i was thinking in order to do it. but in my new osts on banners, stories and whatnot i will slap myself everytime i say i was bored. Ruin
If you passionately like what you do, whether it is photography or fish keeping, you should try to translate your enthusiasm into words and share it with your audience. Explain why YOU like what you do, lay out your personal fascination with the subject, and thereby offer people a reason to become fascinated by it, too. Regardless of being bored, there's a LOT of truth to this statement. As far as a presentation on photography, I'd do a timeline of sorts. Talk about the first photos and cameras. What were they of? Who were some major photographers worth discussing? Manufacturers? What did photography change? If you want to keep their attention talk about how some of the earliest photos were of smut - which is true, porn hasn't been exclusive to the internet, hahaha. What cameras changed the way we see photos today? What about digitals and their technology? What is photography today like and where is it going? Ask the questions that interest you and find the answers. Good luck!

Zeealex
well thanks to both of you and your advice. i did the presentation and somehow got the emotions of my class on a (good) roller coaster. some images i described made people cry. allot of them made them laugh though. overall at the end of it, people's perceptions of me have changed. and i got a band 6 (A* grade) for the presentation. Zeealex
hey, what i did basically, was set up a powerpoint, with a single introduction slide, that basically just outlined, what type of photography I normally do (close ups, and portraits these days) and then, why i like doing it. then, i got all my favorite photos that i took, and placed them on their own respective slide and then spoke about them. so try and find any photos you have taken that have a story behind them, and tell that story to your audience, keep it simple though. Keep it comical, and keep them captivated. good luck! Edited December 2, 2012 by Zeealex
