Given up on this title...

Got my way up to Mission 3, and I just can't spare the time anymore to struggle through this game.

There are two main reasons:

(1) The AI...They're infuriating. Ubi should've pushed the development hard on this end. From friendly AI crossing your path, while you're firing, to enemy AI able to somehow see you through large potted plants, shoot through said pot, and drop you with one round. For about twenty minutes, all I did was maneuver my way stealthily to a potted plant of one elevation or another, crouch behind the clay portion of it, and two seconds later that pot would shatter and so would my head. That's pretty amazing. If there were more than two potted plants in an area, I avoided it altogether if I could.

Now something's wrong with a game design if the player is busy thinking about that.

(2) The urban environment of New Mexico was amazing to behold, but a severe tactical stranglehold was placed on the player by limiting his options to only street and alley combat. All of those buildings, and not a single one can be entered. That too, is pretty amazing.

Having played Combat Mission, and Combat Mission Shock Force, two very hardcore military simulators, there's just no way that soldiers of any calibre are going to completely ignore using structures for cover and concealment. Now, I'm not expecting Ubi to make every building in the city accessible, but some of those structures could've been hollowed out, particularly in areas that are just "prime" for sorties.

So, once more I've uninstalled the game without completing it. I'm confident that the multiplayer aspect of it would've been topnotch, but since I'm not in a position to commit time towards playing online, that's not an option to me.

Too bad. I really wanted to love this title like I did GR, but it's pretty clear to me now, that it's not going to happen.

*sniff-sniff*

:(

Have any of you had such frustrations with this title?

it seemed a bit scripted with me, every time i played the first mission to test the god mode was working or any new skins i had made where working, as soon as i had got Kirkland in my power and moved up to get brown, the enemies would be in the same position EVERY time, even though i would maybe wait a while and then go in and try to sneak past them. plus, i tell the friendlies to hold their position and they would still follow me! :wall:

i agree the game was infuriating, and you werent really missing anything exiting other than the goodies win yet again. GRAW2 with its super uncool abilities to keep crashing where no better, UBI should have definately tried harder with the PC version, even though graphically it was fantastic, it needs allot of work.

GR was and is still my favorite in terms of stability and practicality, it wasnt too overkill with the equipment and like you said, you where able to go inside some street buildings, not all of them but some that provided a tactical upper hand for either you, or the enemy like in the embassy mission with that sniper, on my first few plays, i failed to spot him, but after a few tries i finally found him, i used to ###### my pants when i got a bullet in my head from a position i didnt see coming. i know it was a contradiction seeing as this game is scripted but you could get away with it and as soon as you shot at them, they would dart to cover and hide while someone else supressed your position. thats what the real enemy would do if they had sense. but graphically GR2 on the Xbox was my favorite it just seemed smooth and it kept the typical GR feel to me, no cross com, just your wits and your gun. the AI was a bit stupid at times though :P

PS if you ever install GRAW again and want to cheat a little i'll quite happily stuff all of the data i edited in i file for you and pushed it your way, it can help you out but you still need to use tactics as the stupid cross com glitches and blurs get annoying and you cant get a good shot on the enemy

It's quite hard but I like it, especially Mission 3.

For the beginning it's a good idea to choose easy as difficulty. So the enemies don't shoot that precise and they are less fast spotting you. And as a result your ghosts survive longer. That you can't climb or enter even some rare buildings, really is a disadvantage.

But I do like this game even though it needs more patience than usual shooter there you just shoot your way to the end. With GRAW you are challenged all the time and you need to survive every corner.

Guess this belongs to the introduction training.;) But in general some (key) enemies have fixed positions, but the vast mayority spawns in different places.

plus, i tell the friendlies to hold their position and they would still follow me!

Never happened to me. Do you use patch 1.35?

The only problem I have is that they keep too much distance while following me if I choose the regroup option.

yeah it was patched, it was really annoying. figured it out later on though. i needed to reinstall the game, it was a mod i had put on earlier that game and it had messed up the AI when it was uninstalled

Haven't played with Mods yet. Atm I want to get through the vanilla game once.

And while playing I like this game more and more. It just needs a little patience while playing.

The leveldesign is one of my favourites.

Later you can enter some buildings. In Mission 4 are the first once which can be entered.

If you have problems with the tanks in Mission 3 at the embassy (like me), I recomment a tactic like this:

If you place your Ghosts upstairs, they will most likely get killed at least by the 3rd tank.
