i would probably have to say the bushmaster ACR or the Magpul Masada wichever it is, ive always known it as the latter is on my list

or the M4

of course the OICW XM29, XM8 and any other models.

FN scar is okay.

G36C

the barret M82, thats were the no CoD speak comes in, a barret 50 cal is all the barret rifles to me as all of them as far as i know are 50 calibre.

and the winner is, the G11, loved it since spec ops: covert assault :P

so the Box is my favorite :P whats yours?

so long as [...] the correct name is used.

Try telling game developers that. How many more times do I have tell them it's 'mag'(azine) not 'clip' before they get the message!! Thanks CoD developers for destroying our langauge by convincing players the correct term is 'clip' not 'mag'(azine). <_<

I think flamethrower wins the debate hands down. Fire purifies, what can I say? Yeah so what it's short range, but it's gonna hurt helluva lot more in CQB than a single bullet. So there. :P

Gerber Mark II - carried daily, used at least twice daily. Never jams, fails, needs (much) cleaning and is inherently silent. Although it does leave a lot to be desired when it comes to range. ;)

To say M4 is to include thousands of manufacturers, variations, optional equipment, calibERs etc. I believe in K.I.S.S. rifles designed for mission needs. The M4 is such a versatile weapons that even as the mission changes, it can easily adapt to its new need. Ever seen that episode of The Unit where they have to recover the body of an Operator in a village? They're equipped with SPRs, but they have no fear in clearing rooms with those 18" barreled beasts.

There are so many weapons out there it's so hard to narrow it down. What a reliable weapon that runs like a top, delivers a hard punch and is good within 200m (in the hands of an average shooter)? Grab an AK-47. Need something quiet for close quarters with a high rate of fire? MP5SD. Need to kill that guy a kilometer away AND everyone near him? MK19. Need to punch holes in a technical almost two kilometers away? Ma Deuce. Is that truck now 3km away and you need to blow it sky high? Nothing like a Bushmaster 25MM.

Really, the best weapon is any weapon that the shooter is proficient and accurate with. As long as you can effectively engage and destroy targets at a given range with that weapon, you're good to go. :)

Personally, I have a soft spot for M4 variations, MP5SD variation, Remington 700 based rifles, and the KRISS-TDI (what a beaut). Can't forget 1911s either. ;)

Remember that SOCOM and SOPMOD are military designators that refer to several variants also. It's not just one rifle setup one particular way. ;) There's the ever famous M4 SOPMOD picture that runs around the interwebs showing a variety of setups. SOCOM is military in origin, but something you see a lot of on civilian markets.

What M12 are you talking about? They Steyr pistol was only used in the World Wars (and only 250K made) and the Beretta M12 wasn't used in the Italian military until 1959.

I'm going to have to go with the good old Mossberg 500 cruiser. There's not a more devastating, effective weapon for home defense than a shotgun, and the distinctive round of a round being chambered into a pump-action shotgun is a pretty accurate warning to the perp that he's about to die.

okay then :D i was prepared to act like a stupid woman but you know :P

an M4 SOCOM with front grip, silencer, and ACOG scope and universal C mag (i think ):P my ideal weapon

the M12 shotgun not sure who it was made by . i was referring to the 1911 being almost 100 years in service

If we're talking video game weapons, then I don't have a favourite as such, I take a loadout that will allow me to cover all situations depending on the map. I'm very particular about this. I would rather a weapon with better all around performance stats and lower damage than a weapon with very damage that kicks like a mule. And tend to hardly ever take shotguns in videos games these days as they can't generally hit ###### even at point blank range, they spread way too much compared to RL. Likewise, I'll almost never take a sniper rifle in maps with a lot of CQB areas - I'm not talking open urban streets I'm talking like corridors etc. I always take an assault rifle as standard.

For heavy CQB maps (corridors etc):

- Assault rifle with Reflex scope OR no scope (only really use the Reflex for night missions) as primary. SMG with no scope OR Reflex scope as secondary.

For urban maps (streets etc) and open maps (with long range shooting):

Either:

- Assault rifle with ACOG scope OR sniper scope as primary and SMG with no scope OR Reflex scope as secondary.

OR:

- Assault rifle with Reflex or no scope as primary and sniper rifle as secondary.

Such loadouts allow me to cover all ranges, unlike some players who will focus on just short range with shotguns and SMG's for loadout etc (using primarily shotguns because of the stopping power, which of course, severely limits range and therefore combat effectiveness of that person (and of course is an open invitation to snipers which they cannot counter with their loadout - unless it's the 'noobQannon' autosnipershotgun from L4D))
