well i came back from merseyside, about... 3 hours ago and there wasnt any forecast for snow there so i thought it would be okay, but as a precaution i took my phat ass magnum "swat boots" as my liverpudlian friend calls em and to no surprise when i got there, it wasnt snowing, but it was VERY icy, but surprisingly, i didnt slip once, but my friends, i swear to god, where trying to ice skate or something. so my magnums have been the best boots to grip ice since my dr martens 5 years ago. ie only had the magnums for 8 months and i already like them

nice range wombat, one problem in your link was the 404 error, but i just clicked the womens tab and had a look.

the magnum company makes magnums look like this:

and they are very comfy, i dont know why they look like swat boots like but there they are.

i just call them magnums for ease of speech instead of magnum tactical boots

Depends on how cold and how icy, and what I'm doing.

If its below about -15C, I've got a pair of Scarpa Vegas/Invernos that've served me pretty well for snowshoeing and light duty mountaineering. They fit me a bit too loosely for ice climbing (imagine trying to climb a ladder on stilts, and that's how it feels when I'm on my frontpoints), but man are they warm. For warmer weather (say -20 to -5) or when I'm really climbing, I'll bring out the Asolo Summits. I got'em on sale for cheap, and they climb ice really well. They fit pretty snug, so they aren't as warm as the Vegas, but I'm typically moving around enough for it to not be an issue. Finally, I've got a pair of Asolo Titans for even warmer conditions, and general hiking. If its icy, I either walk carefully or break out the crampons.

nice boot ranges guys! my favorite ones are my Olang stubai boots they are for the REAL snow, usually for the welsh/ scottish mountains type area i know they are men's but hey they do the same thing as women's they still fit at the end of the day

they look VERY similar to that boot

retractable ice grip spikes, not big fat spikes, qute dainty, but really effective, they even go on just to keep my feet warm sometimes :P

Warm, waterproof, and non skid are my preference. :rocky:

Sorry, couldn't resist being a smart alec. lol

doesnt bother me :D its better that than the bloody dolly shoes the women wear in mersey side. it would be logical to have thes things you mentioned though

I don't know wich is the best boot for snowy weather, as I have never seen snow in my life!

hot country?

I will stick with my Red Wings. They have a good sole that have lots of grip. They seem to work pretty good in snow (tested them out in Canada).

Bare feet and Ice. Really.

:P

I wear my Altama Exospeeds year round (Ones, not Twos, I have them too and I'm not happy at all with Altama for the changes). Although this is my first winter stateside since 2008 so we'll see how this works out, probably not well. I'll probably need to switch to my issued boots for better grip and less comfort, I think I have... come to think of it, I have no idea what brand they are, it's been that long since I've worn them. Altamas are the heat! :D
