Tesco trade-ins go national

Sell off your old games and get money off your weekly shop as trial hits all UK stores

Supermarket giant Tesco has rolled out its pre-owned games offering to stores across the UK.

A number of press adverts (pictured) are running in national newspapers which display the trade-in values for used games – and claim that the cost can be redeemed against anything in store.

Tesco will pay £12 for 2010 FIFA World Cup on PS3, £17 for Mario Kart Wii and £19 for the 360 version of Red Dead Redemption.

Customers can also buy pre-owned games from applicable Tesco outlets.

Tesco’s online store locator system says that at least 60 stores are now accepting pre-owned games in their entertainment departments.

Tesco began trialling its service late last year at its Basildon Pitsea store. Earlier this year the retailer extended its trial store base further, as did rival supermarket Asda and home catalogue retailer Argos.

In July the supermarket expanded its games buying team from six to ten, and announced that 200 new stores have been opened in the past 12 months.
