remix79
How do you make [GR] sessions more intense? I do the following: -minimize or eliminate scoped weapons for the Ghosts I leave one or two, specifically the sniper and perhaps one other. -reduce in-game saves I'm trying different rules for this one: -only save after an objective has been completed -for each completed objective, I gain an extra "life" (restart from a save) I played Spectre Wind with these settings and it worked superbly. I was able to see the enemies but had to go hunting for them to get close enough to shoot. The intensity lasted all the way up to completing the first objective, then I was able to relax a bit. While completing the last objective, I accidentally blew myself up while trying to toss what I THOUGHT was a grenade through the warlord's front window but turned out to be a rocket launcher round (not my finest moment). Thankfully, however, the frustration didn't tip over into fun-killing despair because I was able to start at the last objective. I also turn off IFF, try not to use the command map in game to ID enemies, and am thinking about refraining from map usage even more. Perhaps using only the zoomed in view of the map, to essentially create a "fog of war" effect. Those poor Ghosts; and I'm supposed to be on their side... What other rules and tips do you use to raise the intensity?
Tinker
Blood oil and the 9MS mod have a modified cmi file. This allows you to still use the command map, but enemy do not show up on it at all. Makes sensors useless though. No respawns for coop is a must, though i think you mean SP. Spectre Wind in a great mission.
wombat50
Never thought of not using the map. Don't use night vision on night maps. Press f9, no HUD or reticule. Make your avatar a bot by pressing f2. Then rely on way-points and ROE settings to direct the fire teams. With f2 engaged, you can change the camera view by pressing f1. remix79
Tinker: thanks, that sounds like a good mod. I'll check it out. Wombat: thanks, I didn't know about the f2 key. Man, that would make for some difficult night missions. I love the f9 key, but I just wish it would keep the reticule; that's all I need! Is there a way to keep just the reticule? EDIT: nevermind, found it. Edited August 19, 2010 by remix79
