v3.0 Additions

Several weeks ago, Radiator released his BlackHawkDown misison for Graw2 which was incompatible with my weapons pack. Since I love the BlackHawk story, tragic as it is, I wanted my weapons to work with it. Radiator also did some excellent work organizing sound xmls to make it easy for modders to not conflict with each other’s custom sounds and also allow for easy expandability. With those two things in mind, I spent about a week cleaning up my pack which resulted in v2.07. I’m never really happy just releasing fixes like that, especially if they require a lot of work. Fixing up the pack was satisfying but I really want to update it with something worth downloading and had forgotten how fun Graw2 can be to mod, time consuming, but fun.

After using the Mk14 EBR in Modern Warfare 2 and seeing several failed attempts to get one legitamately into this game, I decided to go ahead and attempt one myself. Previously I had not liked the design of this weapon, but over time have come to think it looks really cool. It did seem like a very appropriate weapon for the Ghosts, and was actually in the xbox360 version of the game. Modeling the bolt action was a little tricky, and I did attempt to use normal mapping with this one, which slowed my progress, but I’m fairly happy with the end results. Textures, as always could be improved, but that’s never been my strong point or interest with so much else to worry about getting it to a working game state.

Marcinko suggested adding a shortdot scope, which wasn’t difficult to model, but took some time getting all of the bitmap icons for the SP campaign done. It also required adding many more kits to MP/Coop since it can be attached to not just the Mk14, but several of my other weapons as well. In the end, I think it was a good suggestion and makes the mod that much more complete.

Though I’m not sure many people are still playing this game, I hope the few that are can get some enjoyment out of these efforts. I know I’ve had lots of fun making it and I have to say thanks to all the people who have downloaded and used it over the years. The interest and support of even a few people, especially the community at GhostRecon.net, really make it worthwhile and encouraging to complete projects like this.

This is the new weapon system added to the mod.

·7.62mm

·20 round mag

·semi auto and full auto fire modes

·custom tweaked sounds

·new scope seen above available on most of my weapons

·added multiple sniper kits to all modes except RvA

·added multiple assault kits to all modes except RvA

·added one recon Mk14 kit to RvA

Misc.

·adjusted m4shotgun, l85a2, and sig552 anim sets to be “less” glitchy looking

·changed bullet texture to be Graw2 style instead of shiny Graw1 style

·made sig552 use m4 scope attachments to free up MP attachment slots

·acu Patch - acu style uniforms for the ghosts (OTS version included)

·ots Patch - provides 3rd person perspcective

·bhd Patch - compatible with Radiator's BlackHawkDown mission

As usual, this "addition" took much longer then expected and was pretty much unplanned in the first place. For some reason, adding this one weapon and scope took quite a bit of time. I did have a list of small fixes and changes that I made to the overall mod as well. The download is rather big because it includes both bundled and unbundled versions in it. I recommend trying the bundled one first as it is faster to load and easier to use with the patches provided. Instead of making a whole mod for OTS, I just included a small patch which can be applied to achieve the same result. I also inluded the ACU camo patch and BHD patch for Radiator's mission, since all the patches are relatively small.

Possible Solutions if the mod doesn't run:

1. if you have a local/english dir, try renaming or deleting it. (strange but sometimes works)

2. try the un-bundled version (usually works for people with issues)

3. if you're on vista, there's a method to delete xmb(complied game) files, which can cause problems:

>>> "settings" folder. Then it will recompile with whatever mod you are

ehi bretzies i noticed a error in the mk14. the vertical grip should be attached on the ris, not on the foregrip. btw, great job as usual

LOL. Well, I'm glad you like it, but I'm not a god. I'm just one of the only people modding weapons or still modding weapons for the graws.

Do you have plans to port it to GRAW1?

I usually do eventually. It is easier to get into graw1 since there's less to do, no bitmap icons or kits to make. Some of the animations are m14 though, which is not in graw1. I don't think it would be a big deal sticking some of those in, just have to find em.

For Bret: excellent mod!

Try to use several teams that it forms in register group_managers (bravo team specifically). These teams work well with the previous version bp weapons 2.05. But with this new version they give me a mistake. That I must fix please?

Has anyone else having issue's with the Iron sights on the Mk-14. Or is it that you always have to use a scope?

The ironsights don't work. I only left the option in on the chance someone wants to give it to the AI teammates without a scope. Ot play OTS, would work as well.

Not sure how to reproduce this. How can I use bravo team? I remember one mission with them. Which one was it?

The bravo team is in the same register of the us marines: group_manager. What I did was to create several squads (us marines squad, bravo team squad ...). In the previous version 2.05 they were working well, but in this one it gives me the previous mistake. Does it design someone of what can be happening? :ermm:

I'm not sure what you're talking about or how you use that, but if you've given any of them sig552 aimpoint or acog in the groups manager, you need to switch those out with the bp_m4v2_aimpoint and bp_m4v2_acog. The sig aimpoint and acog no longer exist. That's the only thing I can think of.

I've played missions where the marines drop in and it's fine, as well as Bravo team, even though all you see is them dropping down from the chopper, it would still crash if there was a problem

What I want to explain is that I did more squads apart from the ghost team. I did it with the groups bravo team (they appear in group_manager as the us marines). They worked well with the version 2.05 but with this one they give me mistake. Do not add them sig552 acog or aimpoint. I reinstalled the mod with record group_manager that brings the version 3.0 for fault, and it gives me mistake. I do not understand that it happens. Please help

I get that it works in v2.05, but I don't know why it wouldn't in v3.0. Send me your group_manager.xml and I'll look for errors. There's probably 1 small thing in there it doesn't like.

Ok i wil send you group_manager and ghost_templates. I reinstalled mod, and i made changes in ghost_templates and game crash (same error). the problem is in ghost_templates, i think

I noticed you had some other mod stuff in there:

Bret: Thanks i can fix my ghost_templates register. I can use a several teams again. But the error was in ghost_templates and not in group_manager. Change in gears (hips_gears and torso_gears) maked a crash in game. I don´t know why yet. I taked m203 from bretzies mod for graw1 and meusoc from magpul mod, they work fine. Thanks again.

Hey, I've been playing around with 3.0 for a few weeks in FPV and it worked great. But just last night, I installed the OTS (no ACU) patch and it gave me this error.

Even without any edited files and whatnot (full clean install) I still get this error whenever I install the OTS patch. Any idea to fix this?

Oh and by the way, does installing the ACU patch also affect the "old-school" Ghost look? Just wondering. xD

The ACU patch just changes the camoflauge and some of the head gear colors, but it doesn't revert to the GRAW style helmets or setup.

Not sure why the OTS patch wouldn't work. I download these myself and install them clean to make sure it works. Make sure when you are installing the OTS patch that you overwrite any files that it wants. Also try some of the steps on the first post to see if that helps. Could be random xmbs laying around. If you haven't already, try the un-bundled version too.

If you are mixing and matching mod stuff into your own personal mod(cough...seiken), it's impossible for me to know what you've done or to what extent and why it wouldn't work. I'll try to help if I can, but it's much more difficult to pinpoint the problem, because it may not even be with my mod but what the person is doing to modify the mod.
