Tinker
Mass amount of people are experiencing complete system lockups playing SC:C after todays patch. Few clipits from UBI forums: Nothing seems to fix this... The game always freezes in Kobins Mansion right after I pass the first weapon cache. Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a way to fix it? Id like to be able to play the campaign. Though there are several paths to take, after taking out the first guard, no matter what direction I go, the game locks up to the point where I have to use the power button on the console to shut down. I'd installed a title update this morning, if that helps for any bug-hunting purposes. Having the same issue in a later level. Doesn't matter what path or behavior I choose, it's NOT going to let me progress. How did you manage to get past the first weapons cache!? I played Korbin's mansion last night before I got the patch downloaded this morning. EDIT: Temp Fix, for some reason this didnt work without the game installed on my hard drive. You may not need to install it, however. But with the game installed, uninstalling the update seemed to fix the freezing. Obviously you just have to deal with being offline. I returned my first copy thinking something was wrong with it, put in my new copy and it still freezes when i turn the corner after the first weapon cache. This really sucks. So do not accept the latest update, and only play SP off line until further notice... (Good job console do not use the new DRM) Main topic *Edit* Official response: We are currently investigating a freezing issue seen in the title update that was released for Splinter Cell Conviction on the Xbox 360 this morning. This issue only happens after installing the update and we have asked Microsoft to remove the update for the time being until we can determine the cause and fix the issue. If you have installed the update please remove it and play through the impacted mission again. [uPDATE] We have found that if you disconnect from XBL while playing you will reduce the chances of freezing without having to remove the update. Rocky
Remember when they said Consoles were easier to develop for because the hardware was the same config, and nobody expected patches even.
Ruin
Glad I saw this. I was about to setup XBox Live just for this game (and to get my awesome silenced shotty!). But I'll keep her offline for now and enjoy the game!
WhiteKnight77
Well Rocky, developers all across the board have gotten lazier, especially now that there is a way to patch console games via the Internet. It will only get worse.
CR6
So now there are Day 1 patches for console games? Just sad.

It will only get worse. I don't think it's necessarily because of internet access, its now they have hard drives to store those patches on IMO. Adding even hard drives make consoles more PC like, just with limited power. Add both HDDs and Internet connections together and you have a recipe for patches on said consoles not to mention driver updates for the hardware. Ruin
I hooked my 360 up and finally got set on a Live! account. I ran Conviction, got my SPAS-12SD and had to update the game to stay logged in. I ran a quick "Deniable Ops" mission with no problems. I'm going to try story mode later tonight to see if the problem really has been solved.
