Dick Splash
Will someone please 'friend' me!!!What are friends for. No, really, what are Friends for?Sorry, I was feeling insecure that day. Check out how I feel in my profile today. There was no room to put "...and my favourite colour is purple". Hopefully, if we all have a virtual group hug, my profile view count will increase. 'Profile View Count'? Good grief!!! DS

Good grief!!!I know what you mean, this new layout has a certain "sophomoric" feel to it...suppose it'll just take time to set in. Battleship Gray. WhiteKnight77
Profile pics seem to be working again as my previously uploaded pic is back.
wombat50
I still haven't had any luck copying or cutting and pasting within the post editor by right clicking and using the context menu. The options aren't there in the context menu. If I copy from a source outside the editor I can paste it within the editor using the context menu. The keyboard shortcuts work within the editor but not usually my preferred method. Is there a setting I can adjust to allow me to use the RC context menu? I hadn't noticed until recently the numerous advertisments that use the same color scheme as the new forums within their ads. I like the new color scheme and I guess some advertisers do too. Rocky
I still haven't had any luck copying or cutting and pasting within the post editor by right clicking and using the context menu. Works in Firefox but not in IE. I'll look into it. Profile pics seem to be working again as my previously uploaded pic is back. Most of them are back, I can't guarantee they are all there, but most of them are.
wombat50
Thanks Rocky. I should have mentioned I'm using IE8.
wombat50
It may only be me but the new forums never load as quickly as the old. The old always loaded new pages with seemingly little or no pause. The new may take 5-10 seconds to load a page. This is true when navigating back to the previous page too. I'm using IE8 so it may be worth my while to try Firefox?(currently d/l'ing so I'll give it a try) Maybe this is nuts but does the Icelandic volcanic ash cloud have any affect on internet transmissions? Another thing is editing posts. In my experience I have to push the edit button and let it load. After it has loaded there is no window to edit in. But hitting the edit button for a second time allows access to the editing interface. Anyone else experience this? Edit: K, Firefox is faster. Loads new page 2-4 seconds. More like the old forums. Navigating to previous page is instantaneous. To edit my posts only requires clicking the edit button once. The selections for copy and paste appear in the right click context menu. Guess it is Firefox from now on.

It is actually annoying to come to this site now bcoz it takes so long to load pages and doing replies is a pain in the ass now too. I won't and I don't think its realistic to expect the majority of visitors to switch to Firefox just to view this site faster. Either it can be sped up or switch back to old or I think you may lose visitors over time from frustration.

I did switch to Firefox which was painless. Transferred all my bookmarks over from IE8 very quickly. I never thought to try it but IE8 has a compatibility mode. I don't the ins and outs of it but maybe that would have helped. For all I know I may have had it on.
JohnTC02
Hmm, I use IE8 and I have only noticed a small reduction in loading times.

Rocky
I'm using I8 and not noticed any issues.... well beyond me getting used to the different interface lol There are some differences that we're still getting used to too. One handy thing to note is the "Todays Active Content" link at the foot of the main forum index. That's handy for finding recent posts that maybe don't appear when you try the "View New Content" link at the top right of the forums.
