Rocky
Settlers 7 has joined the ever growing list of games to be affected by Ubisoft's new always connected DRM. Ubisoft DRM stops gamers. It's frankly become unbelievable, a screw up of these proportions is really bewildering. Ubisoft forum thread.
JohnTC02
Unbelievable!! the sad thing here is that this list will keep on growing, how bad has it got to get before Ubi dose something about it. Ubi keeps apologizing for the connection errors and gives out free games by way of compensation which IMO is a very kind gesture and something they are not bound to do but how long can this continue, they can't keep giving games away each time these connection errors arise in an attempt to keep customers happy, they will only put up with it for so long. If Ubi can put millions of dollars into a promotion video for the upcoming release of GR:FS why cant they prioritise and put this cash into upgrading their servers, maybe this is already happening and I don't know about it but something needs doing before the release of GR:FS or it will be dead in the water from day one. Please don't get me wrong here, I'm in no way anti Ubi in fact I will be one of the first to by the game but I want a game I can play out of the box and I really hope the game will be a huge success. Ubi has had a taste of things to come here with the latest server failures on some of it's games and I think over the coming months this will only get worse even more so when GR:FS is released, let's hope they are able to see the trend here and act quickly before it's to late. NoQuarter
Unbelievable, bewildering, and hilarious. Wonder what a day in the life of a typical Ubisoft department head is like these days. Business as usual or a splash-fest...urinating on themselves while aiming for their colleagues? We think most people are going to be fine with it.Oui oui. firefly2442
Ubi has to patch this feature out, they are taking way too much heat for this to continue to "work". I would be very surprised if they release any more games with this. People are gonna be MAD when the new Splinter Cell comes out....
calius
I'm glad ... hope they lose money and credibility for their stupid ideas. Its all very well justifying everything becuase of piracy, and then taking a more hard line stance with this online only DRM crap, but to not back up the technology to work it properly ... what exactly are these corporate idiots expecting to happen exactly? JohnTC02
Ubisoft has responded to reports that Australian Settlers 7 users are unable to play the game. Earlier today we reported how some users were unable to play the game for reasons that were thought to be related to Ubisoft's new DRM system, known as the Online Service Platform. The publisher, however, states that this is not the case. “This is a separate issue to the OSP system,†an Ubisoft spokesperson told IncGamers, adding “it’s currently being worked on by the developers and we aim to have a solution soon.†“For anyone experiencing the issue, the best approach is to create a ticket on support.ubi.com which will then provide them with email updates on the situation as they arrive.†Source. Rocky
Making my first post possibly inaccurate, glad I didn't put it on the news page!
JohnTC02
There telling us it's a "separate issue" but are not saying what this issue is. Would Ubi own up to it if it was a OPS system failure?, I would like to think they would but that's just me, ever the optimist!
WhiteKnight77
With all the flack they are taking for the OSP for the last month, is it any wonder why they are not tying the problems with those from Oz with all the previously noted problems? Do I believe that Ubi is trying to hide all the real problems with the OSP? Yes, will they be truthful about it? Honestly, if you believe so, I have some land off the coast of Florida I will sell you really cheap.
JohnTC02
It would be a shame if Ubi did try and hide the real issue behind the problems down under, for a big concern like Ubi I don't think it would be in their best interests to blatantly lie over such a hot topic as this, it wouldn't do their already diminishing reputation any good. WK, I will be in touch with you about that piece of land you have for sale, sound like a good deal to me!
