thales100
EA has adopted the same DRM in C&C 4, a permanet internet connection is required even to play SP. They say that this isnt a DRM, but "the computer needs to be connected to the internet". Hehe ... Rocky
I split your post off to a separate thread Thales, I feel it deserves it. This is really laughable, I feel like I want to go to the highest building and megaphone out what EA have tried to do here it is SO laughable. First they say (according to those forums), that Command & Conquer 4 will have NO DRM. First thing to be clear about, Command & Conquer 4 has NO DRM. Zip, zero, zilch, none. Then they outline a system just like Ubisoft's OSP. Plus it has a key you have to enter the first time you play! Command & Conquer 4 does require you to be connected to the internet to play. How do they expect to get away with trying to say the game has no DRM? Do they seriously think nobody would spot it's the same thing that has made Ubisoft DRM such a popular phrase on the net that spammers are actually using to try and trap new customers! *shakes head*

CR6
Wow, this makes Ubi almost look good because at least Ubi is honest that it is DRM. Once again, my main beef with this is that you need to be online for single player. Won't be picking up this game anyway, but for those of you that like the older games, EA is actually giving away the first 2 installments of their C&C Tiberian series and the first Red Alert game for free. http://www.commandandconquer.com/classic
firefly2442
First Ubisoft, now EA is getting into it... I think the floodgates are opening on DRM usage. Call me pessimistic but I don't think it's going to get any better. As long as people buy the games, the small minority that actually understand what's going on and care won't matter. A friend of mine bought a copy of DoW II which tied in with a STEAM account he setup. He then forgot his STEAM account password and email password. Thinking he could just install the game again, he realized that it is now tied to his account. Since he doesn't know his email or account information, the disc is useless. He was upset but told me he will probably just go to the store and buy another copy. If it was me, I would be royally mad if I found out something that I bought couldn't be used. But some people just don't understand. I feel like we should open our own game publishing company because we have a lot more sense than the current crop. WhiteKnight77
You would think that after the uproar over the DRM and accelerated pirating of Spore that EA would have learned their lesson, but I guess not.
ROCO*AFZ*
Check this out... http://www.gossipgamers.com/battlefield-ba...drm-from-steam/ EA just removed DRM in Steam Battlefield Bad Company 2 And you will note this article shows ubi getting kicked
Rocky
EA just removed DRM in Steam Battlefield Bad Company 2 Isn't that because on Steam, SecuROM is pointless?
