Question about Wii DLC

I have a friend that owns a Wii. I don't really know much about the console and I'm not sure if he has it hooked up to the Internet (I'll ask him later this week). I'd like to get him World of Goo for the Wii. However, it doesn't appear that there are any physical copies of the game, only downloads. I see it's on Amazon over WiiWare. Essentially, I buy the game and then they give me a code. My question is, once I have the code how does he get it on his machine? Assuming he has it hooked up to the Internet, does he just login to Wiiware and then put the code in? Does anyone have any experience with this service? Is the game tied to his Wii or his account?

I will fire up the Wii and see if i can tell you

Well i checked and i just dont know. I see nothing in Wiiware or even on the Wii menus itself to redeem points or even a code. However im sure when you get the code it will tell you where and how to use it. So as long as he has internet i wouldnt worry. They wont sell you it without telling you how to redeem it.

I don't own a Wii but I have had experience downloading free demos onto a friend's Wii. It's something like this:

You just turn on your Wii, make sure it has an internet connection, then go to the Wii Shop channel. You can browse for available games, and you have to redeem Wii points which you purchase on a card at a retail store or use your credit card.

When downloading WiiWare, it will give you an option to save it on your Wii's internal memory or save it onto an external SD card. I would recommend your friend buy a dedicated external SD card just for his Wii to save WiiWare games. That way he can back up his downloads on a computer, and it won't take save game space on the Wii's limited internal flash memory. I believe any WiiWare will be tied to his particular Wii hardware, but I'm just guessing as I'm sure Nintendo doesn't want people to turn WiiWare into shareware.
