Loud TV Ads

We all know what it is like to have to grab the remote real quick to turn down the volume on our TVs when obnoxiously loud commercials come on. Well at least for those of us in the US, Congress finally did something. The Loud TV commercials may finally end details what will happen and when.

Now if we can get rid of those commercials where advertisers think we want to hear them scream, especially car dealerships.

No fear, they already have if you own a 'Dolby Volume' enabled TV.

October 30, 2007 The issue of TV audio variation across channels and during commercial breaks is one which affects most of us – in fact, rushing for the remote to dampen the sound when an ad breaks in at uncomfortable volume has become the modern day equivalent of the quick-draw. Solutions to this problem have been sought for years with varying degrees of success, but now a new technology unveiled by Dolby promises to provide “set and forget” volume-leveling while preserving the full listening experience at any volume level.

Interesting read, it's about time something was done about the volume of TV adds, they are the same over here, I wonder if anything like this could happen in the UK.

Personally I have no interest in the stupid commercials we have here, maybe it's just me but I find the majority of them are very childish, it makes me wonder how much these people get paid to make these things.

You can probably tell that this is one of my pet hates, Good find WK!

Yeh interesting to read something is getting done about that, I never knew it afected US viewers too.

If someone did a calculation and figured out the carbon footprint caused by excess use of the volume button to turn down then up the volume during ads, causing premature replacement of batteries, and fed that to the greenhouse mob - it'd be stopped tomorrow.
