Specter 0 Posted May 22, 2003 Share Posted May 22, 2003 (edited) I just tried to DL a couple mods from the @war fileplanet server, the latest being the FB/Swedish mod to fix the camo bug, and when I click to start the DL, I get an MS error that says blah blah has performed an illegal op and will now close. and IE closes, but it is only that site, and downloading from that site. I have tried 2 or 3 times a day since the original post in this thread to DL the revised FB/Swedish mod so I could get the camo fix frome here but it links to fileplanet, which keeps shutting IE down with an error, but no details ! ! Damn MS for that ! ! Anyway, I was wondering, can the FB/Swedish be found anywhere else? I havent seen it, and I want it for the fix for camo. Please help. Its kind of a bummer to be doing a farmhouse night mission in arctic camo ! ! Or any of the other GR missions for that matter, and I dont want to keep disabling/enabling FB. Want to leave it on for now. The weird part is, its only that site, nowhere else, and only when I go to start the DL. Damn strange. When I red this last time it was just the first post and I figured you had problem with FP period. But if it's just that file, contact me on MSN and I'll send it over. It's not up on any other server that I know of. EDIT: Btw, I'm on CET so that gives you an approx when I'm online. Usually on between 12-13.00 to 1-2.00 CET. I even tried adding to trusted sites. It wont even let me do that. Even turned all security off. No go. Someone, ANYONE, please help. MS has no answer and neither does fileplanet. Sometimes ISPs will give you a CD to set up your account and it will contain a modified/customized version of IE. Have you tried a system checker like Norton WinDoctor? Specter 0 Posted June 11, 2003 Author Share Posted June 11, 2003 I tried everything, including uninstalling and reinstalling IE, which can be done in Windows XP. It can be completely uninstalled and reinstalled with no ill OS effects. I have also run Norton Windoctor, numerous times. But it is only with Fileplanet, nowhere else. Fileplanet is the only site this happens on. My connection requires no proprietary or specialized software. I tried turning all IE security settings to low, and even tried adding Fileplanet to my trusted sites list. But on the upside, I have just gotten SuSE reinstalled, and I am going to try DL'ing from there again, just to see if it does it there also. Im even a Gamespy member, so I know I have permissions. Its just plain weird. There is no other word for it. I just tried in WinXP again this morning and no go. I have no Firewalls, and even tried it by disconnecting my router, and plugging my PC directly into the modem. No go. I ran 4 speed tests, and the results are as follows, with visual routes on each speed test, and also a visual route test to file planet. My average download speed is 1.8 Mb, Upload is 768Kb; no packet loss to any of the test sites, or to Fileplanet. I reach fileplanet in 11 hops, 87 ms. The speed test sites I usedare reliable, and the numbers I gave are an average of 4 tests, one taken at each of the following sites: www.dslreports.com, www.bandwidthplace.com, www.2wire.com, and www.pcpitstop.com. These sites use nearly uncompressable data for their test medium, MP3 files. Im just totally stumped here. All I wanted to get was the Frostbite/Swedish mod so I could get the camo patch installed.
