Any time I play single player my game runs fine. When I play multi (either Lan or Gamespy) It seems to slow down, pause, glitch (will start going in a direction not pushed, solved by pressing tab), or even freeze after time. I've upgraded sound, video, ram, any ideas??? Anyone with similar issues??

Are you on dial up or Broadband, using a router or a hub, which OS do you have, and if on LAN, what kind of Network card do you have? This can be found in the device manager.

What Video card, OS, sound card, router, and NIC do you have, and what kind of mouse? I ask this for a reason. How much RAM do you have, and what processor? What version oc DirectX are you running, and which drivers for your video and sound card?

Without the details, here are some things to check and to try. Make sure there isnt a resource conflict with IRQ or memory ranges between your mouse and NIC card. Run DXDIAG from the run command, go to the audio tab, and try turning hardware acceleration off. Make sure you have no resource conflicts.

Other than that, we need some more information about your system. Are you running any software firewalls or antivirus? If so, turn them off and see what happens. Are you running any other software in the background? If so, turn it off also.

In the GR options panel, under sound, try turning off EAX, and alt. software surround and see if that helps.

Check the IKE crash log located in the main GR directory and see if it reveals anything.

Ok. Here is the list of my components.

video: 128Mb DDR Radeon 9000 pro

OS: ME

sound: Audigy Gamer SB

using switch on cable modem

using linksys lne 100tx

mouse: wireless logitech elite duo

ram: 512 DDR 3200

proc: 1.7 Intel celleron

DirectX: 9.0a

Drivers: sound 5.12.01, video 4.14.01

I checked and no colficts with IRQ or memory ranges. After turning hardware accelleration off and turining off the EAX off my GR seems to be running fine. My computer doesnt seem to slow down or freeze. Thanks for your help. I wonder though, with the hardware I have why would the hardware acceleration not work or interfere and is there a know issue with SB Audigies not being able to use EAX???

Sorry. I'll try to find some Info on Known Issues with Your Version of the Card and "GR".

BTW - Have You already gotten the Sound Blaster Audigy VXD driver Update - Dated : 1/21/2002 / Size : 5.31 MBytes.

I've downloaded the latest drivers from creative labs, but I cant install it for some reason. It keeps hanging while "searching for installed" components, or if it dosnt hang it says I dont have any vxd drivers installed? The SB does show in my device list and shows drivers loaded. Is there something I'm missing??

I would say that You are having some Issues with Your Initial Install of Your Sound Software now.

I recently had to do a reformat that necessitated Me having to Reinstall all of My Sound Software for the Card.

So - I'm reinstalling My OS and I get to the Point where I am trying to set up My Sound Software and guess what - No Installation CD...

Jeeez...

Then - I call the Manufacturer of My PC and they apologize to Me for not having Included the Installation CD with all of My other Software when I received the PC. They Direct to Me to a Base Set of Software for My Card and I finally get My Sound working once again ( w/ No EAX or Surround Sound and only 2 of My 5 Speakers Live ). They tell Me that they've sent the Installation CD to Me in the Mail and I should get it in a week.

Therefore - I Live with the Sound - "As Is" - And after about 3 days of this Horrible Sound System - "As Is" - I get fed up and DL the Latest Update for My Card.

As I'm Installing the Updated Driver Package - I get an Error Message saying ;

"There are No VXD Drivers Installed - This Installation will now Close"

This really made Me think about just what I had gotten Software-wise from My Manufacturer to get My sound running in the Interim as I waited for My Installation CD.

4 Days later when I got the Installation CD - I totally UnInstalled the Sound Card and All software associated with It. I did this from Add/Remove Programs applet in Control Panel as well as Device Manager under System ( Located in Control Panel also ).

I then Rebooted and My System on Reboot, Auto-Detected My Card once again and then Loaded an Audigy Driver for It off of the CD as it was Loaded up on MY CD-ROM at that Time.

I ran the Installation CD and Installed the Software as Directed by the CD and all has been right as rain since...

This Includes Updated Driver Packages as I've installed 2 now without any Issues at all.

Sincerely,
