Frostbite is indeed a first-rate mod. My compliments to you and Neutron for your fine work and dedication. Very high quality and eminently playable.

I've seen the posts about the disabled threat indicator (which I first thought was a bug) so now I'm more cautious, using my sniper as point and tango magnet. Needless to say, he bleeds out quite a bit. I haven't completed the campaign yet, I'm stuck in Sniper's Nest, alternating between my sniper and my demo team trying to pick off the right vehicles. Any tips?

Once again, thanks for an outstanding job. Both you and Neutron deserve a virtual Legion of Merit award. :D

Regards,

Iceman Polar

Thanks, El_OSO. I had stopped the lead BMP to halt the convoy and then picked off the rear guard scout car. I then arranged the squad in a line on the crest and tried picking off guards on the last truck. As you know, this only gets them mad and the hostages killed. My next thought was to try and kill Bogdnaov before he moved very far and the guards slaughter the hostages. For this mission, I was using the HK MSG-90 so I could pop off rounds as fast as you can pull the trigger. Aiming for the lower part of the cab, I clicked the mouse as fast as I could and that ended the mission. OO-RAH!

Having completed the campaign, I found this one the most challenging mission of them all. My only real gripe was that I had to put my nose on the screen to use the M136 accurately. What an eye-strain!

I always play the GR campaigns at recruit level so I can get all the missions for Quick Missions and then I return to them for replays at the more difficult settings. It works for me. BTW, what lies beneath the ice pond? I scoured the pond in the final mission and found nothing.

Thanks again for all the fine professional work your team has committed to this excellent mod. May you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. :santa:

I'm glad you finally figured out that the rest of the stuff in that mission was only to aggravate you. You really only need one sniper on that mission.

I believe the thing you're looking for in the pond is the fish dangling below the ice. I'm glad you had a fun time with it. :)

i haven't even finished the 1st mission but here's my impressions:

the maps are EXTREMELY well done, as are the skins. My only complaint is that while the weapons are also well done, they aren't implemented realistically (Americans don't use the FAMAS or G3, nor do they use several of the new guns.)

It would be nice to have the campaign and skins as one mod and the weapons as another, as the guns are nice and most people will want them.

In any case, great mod so far and i will say again when i finish it.

The G3 is in as it's a mod taking place in Norway. And that is their service weapon. As for the FAMAS, I don't know as I wasn't part of that talk. But I guess Norway may have a few of those around as well. After all Sweden has used G36 for SSG units but still it's not an offical service weapon of our military.

As far as weapons as one mod, I don't think many weapons where made specificly for this mod. Most where handed over from other mods made by the creators. I know that my Minimi models are not the best version in here. That is seen in SF v1.4.4 or when using FB/SF Combo. ;)

I just played through the Frostbite mod for the first time.  Great work.  I really enjoyed everything about it.

Thanks to everyone involved for such a fantastic experience!

Thanks, you may want to try my new map that was just released called December. It's set in a winter environment and works with Frostbite just fine. I'm actually planning on playing through the entire Frostbite campaign again myself, it's been a long time and should run nice on my new system.

Because it is winter and cold out... I felt that I needed to play through Frostbite again. So, I loaded it back up in my game and when I started the campaign, I really felt like it was all new again to me. Funny though... the mission I had the most trouble with was #6 Blueghost. I didn't have any problem with the sniper mission, as I remembered "how" to play it. The other 7 missions... I basically forgot how they played out. This was only the 2nd time I played through it as a campaign, but I did play the single missions alot (after I unlocked them) when if first came out. Great stuff!

Play it again if you havn't played it for awhile like me... it is like a new campaign again. :D I can't say enough godd things about it!

If I only had more time! I remember Frostbite literally sending chills up and down my spine! This mod is so unbelievably impressive - anyone who owns a copy of GR and has not yet tried this: Drop everything you are doing and play Frostbite, right now! :o=

(* Always wanted to say this, but never got around to it.)

Been trying to download this but to no effect. First I couldn't run the application cause I had the "this file is not valid" error, next time I downloaded it it runs but up to 12 % and then stops and says can't install some character file and then just stops.

I would love to just get the files straight out as an archive I can just put straight into my mods folder.

Now ill try FROSTBITE + DTD COLDCALLOUT.

Mother of all mods....best combo...all you need is an airconditioner blowing at you to get the full effect

KronikAlkoholik - If I might suggest... Buy the 6 DVD set offered on the main page, I just got mine today in the mail and I can tell you it is well worth the money. this solves all download problems forever

I'm wondering if your computer is a Mac and that is the reason you need a .zip archive instead of an .exe?

I don't know if there is a zip archive version for Frostbite or not.

Nope it's a PC running Vista. It just seems the downloads will always be corrupted, it might be something wrong with my internet connection because it seems I'm always losing sync.

It could also be the installer itself. This mod was compiled a long time before Vista was born and it may not be compatible with Vista. You could always send me a PM and I'll give you details on how to contact me via snail mail for an uncompressed copy of the mod.

One of my offers when the mod was released was to burn it on a CD for folks with dial up (tells you how old the mod is). All that is required is you send me a blank CD and a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope and I'll pop it in the mail right away. If you're not in the states, you might ask someone closer to you for the same favor. I'll still honor this offer today. I burnt a lot of Frostbite CDs for a lot of folks and didn't receive one complaint over the service.

Do other mods that use the click-team installer fail on Vista for you?

ive been playing frostbite for the last few days, and have some questions: (im curious if it installed and/or is working properly)

1. so far all the maps and missions have been exactly the same as the original GR... the only difference im seeing is: new weapons, different uniforms, snow on on the levels... im already on submarine level. i was wondering if the new maps/levels are later on in the mod? or is my version not working properly?

2. i noticed that all the specialists have only the original GR weapons (one of four kits) to choose from, while the standard soldiers have MANY KITS (80 or more) to choose from.. is this normal or a glitch in my install?

3. is there a inventory list of all the weapon specs of this mod ? (perhaps on this site here somewhere?) im wondering which one has the best scope and other details... seems to me like the M8 and ar15 are superior but curious what other ones are good or peoples favourites?
