viiiper
The last pic is my favorite .. From Cm On top of the above weather conditions, each has a 0-100% fog setting, to allow different aesthetics. For example the visibility on the foggy weather setting with fog turned to 100% is very close (5-10 meters) and gives tons of atmosphere, ideal for tense sneaky Spec. Ops missions. Whereas in clear weather the fog adds a haze effect, where visibility is very high (you can see the entire length of the island, all 32 km!). On top of this you can blend between any fog setting and/or any weather setting. For example you could go from very close fog to a very clear day, if you wanted. You can also control the time of day… All of this is available in the editor and through script control, we can’t wait to see what the community do with this. As ever pictures describe better than words, here’s some examples of the dramatic lighting we can achieve.

NoQuarter
^ What...based on a couple of SS?Kicking Bird: Ah. Good SS. How, uh... does it play? John Dunbar: I don't know, I've never played it.Don't assume that these good-looking screenies -or the related feature, which is not new BTW- will automatically equate to a title with good gameplay. One only has to look back on the :AW* series for proof of this. EDIT: Fingers are crossed that this proves to be a worthy competitor to ArmA II, but only time (and a release schedule) will tell. GRAWChump
They look fine, and the various video's prove that the gunplay and hit detection seem fairly slick as well, so "potentially", this could be one of the best game of the yr. Arma2 need not apply.
JASGripen
I really do hope they don't screw PvP gameplay up, otherwise this will be fantastic: the Ark!
viiiper
lol I wouldn't go as far as the ARK, because it's their first fps, but as a building block it's looking good. There will be bugs that's expected & fine tuning but as a PC user the over all picture is looking good (very good). The Editor that comes with is is alot deeper than IGOR from RSE ghost recon, with twin level of scripting on the lua side & direct engine API's. Will be very interesting how far a good mission maker can go.
NoQuarter
I don't doubt CM in their claim (after all BIS has been able to do it) so I'm not implying anything in pointing out that IGN ran an article with a series of artwork or screen shots apparently showing a similar dramatic lighting sequence for GR:AW2...and we all know how that turned out, once the title was released. viiiper
Man I regret buying Arma2... Man Rpg, wait till you see this editor sexy is an understatement Powerful is a only a snap of it's potential, the only thing worrying me is someone at Gr.net (someone like you) might be a better mission scriptwriter than me. I know there are alot of talented guys around here........ p.s. There will be a video on the editor in a month.
Cpl Ledanek
Man I regret buying Arma2... dude, if I can create a mission, you can create a Campaign. and this is on a demo. give it more time, I'm sure you'll be spitting something out of the editor
viiiper
He's not alone I regret buying arma2 aswell, I gave it a fair shot and now pish'ed off with it. I've personally seen the [OFP: DR] editor & can 100% say it makes life alot better, being similar to the old IGOR editor from Ghost Recon but with deeper layers of scripting (all done on industry standard lua script). Seriously, you learn lua and make missions with this editor, you can actually get a job with the knowledge Lua support 100% with lua logic Pre written Engine calls 1000's of assets advanced triggers advanced logic (blocks/functions) Share with friends Work on projects with friends build any style of mission in any mode... just some of the things possible. Rpg, it you want some upfront info on the [OFP: DR] editor drop me a PM.
Rpghard
Man I regret buying Arma2... dude, if I can create a mission, you can create a Campaign. and this is on a demo. give it more time, I'm sure you'll be spitting something out of the editor I did some test missions in the editor already but it it not that point that I dislike the most it is the entire engine that is not supporting the vehicles + the AI+that stupid amount of 30 players in a coop missions . Most of missions that I have tried online, the action are way to far away from the spawn...and the max fps you'll get with latest gear is around 30 fps...problem is that a few player got a top gear to play and a lot of players are joining servers anyway so that cause a major lag on the servers...What you see is other players moving in slow motion and some of them are shaking...me I don't lag but I hate seein others lag in mp... I bought the game when it cames out and it took more that a month for the devs to came out with a path that doesn't solves major things for me. Vehicles should be removed in the game that will double your fps ...just make the test and try a deatmatch against AI. I and don't like the AI the way they moved at all...and they can shoot you from very far distance so you don't see nothing...it is not fun at all to move at first person I was like drunked after a few hours seeing that screen moved up and down... The way they did there vegetation(grass and trees) that eat to much of cpu for nothing and it doesn't look good either...and a APC that can crushed down the hole forest with no dammage ###### is that for? I got your PM Viiiper tks,and it seem for me that OFP:DR will kick ARMA2 by way far ... First 4 players coop mp instead of 30 in Arma2 A vegetaion thas looks goods and seem to not eat your cpu The AI moved smooth and closer to human reaction This game seems to have been balanced for most used PC,ARma 2; PC that can run that doesn't exist yet In all game you cannot ignore the balance of things ...thats' a law of nature in gaming quest. So you see now ARma2 devs you 'pay the price' now your game is not a top sellers anymore on steam...players on not that maso after all. trust me, Rpghard. viiiper
Sorry to hear it Rpg, I have arma2 aswell and stopped playing it because of some of the reasons you mention and others that I found was the lack of direct help on the BIS forums to tech questions in regard to making missions & scripting. I know some said to me, you learn by trial and error but some monkeys had already done that and were playing dumb, some were very helpful I have to say (full credit to them). A big difference to GR.net were most helped out where they could with GRAW. Anyway that's by the by... All I can say is I've been lucky that Cm have shared alot of info via NDA and I'm willing and will make a wikki & post here tricks and tips on mission making, including lua scripting special blocks for random spawn points and the likes, (after the NDA is over). My main focus on [OFP: DR] is to make missions in MP coop (maybe storyline too) and MP. I want to focus on infantry warfare and that means CQB & players v the enemy with superior fire-power. One example I found in the A2 editor which cheesed me off was the ability or lack of, to place a Ai soldier in a building 1st floor, there is no way of doing it, that was one thing I double checked with Cm and it follows a very similar pattern as with the old Ghost Recon IGOR editor (layered placement). Along with that, I found that the lua script language is not only easy but very very powerful, meaning you can for example: place 20 ai spawn points down and script set them to an event individually or as group, so you could set a trigger point and when the player(s) trigger it that spawns in '5' Ai in position '1' and also disables trigger points '2' , '3' & '4' meaning the other 15 spawn points are locked out, the next time you play you could set a random number gen. and let it choose one of the groups and then the Ai will trigger on the one trigger point but spawning Ai at one of 4 locations. Anyway, it's just an example how you can use active triggers to make random spawn in's. [OFP: DR] comes in for alot of flack but it's been shown to run smooth on a laptop with a 2.0Ghx cpu (dual core) 1Gb system memory & a 7600GT graphics card (512Mb). Now that is impressive as optimization is not complete.

Big
Viiper that u can't it doesn't mean it's not possible. And before u jump into me i do not have ArmA2, nor have any interest on playing nor on BI success or whatever. 1st- 30 players coop: u can do whatever you want. u don't like 30 players? then create one for 2. 2nd- u can place soldiers in diff floors, if u can't it's cause u have no idea. u can either play with setposition or giving a waypoint to the building (if it has positions inside u can select them). even use some usermade scripts for it. 3rd - u don't like vehicles? then create missions without then. 4rd- u talk about help and then compare a fansite with the official forums. The same great help u got from ubi.com. Did u ever tried ofpec for editing or even armaholic?. There are also user made guides, lots of scripts, tutorials, ... And please focus on [OFP: DR] cause every two words from your posts one is ArmA. People wants to know things about [OFP: DR], so focus on it. I do like what i see of [OFP: DR], somethings didn't look so well but till a demo is out u can not judge them. So please, keep the info coming. viiiper
I got no help from Ubi I was referring to GR.net as a great place for help. Just for you, there are lead images when editing for your mission the one that shows up on selection that you can embed your logo or name into too. Lets me say if I was pre-making them I would use a layer program like photo-shop or the likes, save as PNG, BMP, JPG, GIF or TIF format and make them 32bit 512px X 512px. The game comes with English, German, Spanish, Italian & French Audio tracks.
