Back in the day i finished GR1 a few times on the PS2......But i couldnt resist when i found GR Gold for 9 bucks.

What patches do i need for Gold and what is the best method of controlling teammates?.....Thx

Nothing further is needed...except for a few mods once you're done with the campaign.

Hello, my first games of GR were on the PS 2 also. It's been a long time since, and I've been playing on the PC for the past 5 years off and on. I've been planning on writing a bit about how to play the single player mode for a while now, because IMO it's the funnest way that I know of.

Actually, the way I and a few buddies play it is in multiplayer, only with the AI backup. So, it's basically the same as SP mode of PS 2, only in coop where one of us has the command of the platoon. Most of the difficulty of the missions in GR and it's mods, are of a level that you are either required to play (in coop) with respawns, or by memorizing the missions so much that they become stale, or at a lower difficutly level. If you want any chance of completing the missions.

Also, the idea is supposed to be of a Special Forces unit going in behind enemy lines against larger forces by using stealth. This requires the ability to deploy separate teams. Even if you have coop players who are elite, the majority of them do not really work together like a Ghost team operates. But if you have one friend who knows how to work within a unit, it can be superior to playing a full 9 man coop server where everyone is off doing their own thing.

A couple of players in this style of coop..working within teams of Ghosts and as one unit, can complete some of the most difficult missions in GR. Namely the missions out of the top modder Harntrox'sMission HX Random Mission Generator. One of my favorite mods.

Enjoy all of the excellent mods. $9 is a steal, in spite of the game's age, there are qualities about it that are unmatched by any game that's come out since. Plus it was made for the PC.
