[P2: "A Cold Day in Hell" v1.00 - public release]

Are you playing the older test version that you once downloaded or v1.00? At one time there was still an invisitank with a z of 20 meters in the river there...it was part of the cinematic...player platoon would load up and it would follow the Hinds and Hokum up stream..really cool effect for the cine but the shadows the helos cast were just toooo stark and comb looking along the banks...so I removed it from the cine and eventually the map..the only vcls listed under company OPFOR1 should be: attack1, attack2, ED1, Hok1, and Laptop(? uh oh). If you skipped out of the cine as the helos were teleported over to their flight plan centered over the river maybe one failed teleporting out of the playing area, but was hidden anyway? Some audio anomoly from the teleporting of the helos during their plans? I would ask if somebody could check their v1.00 in IGOR around loc 343, 245, 10 and make sure no vcl is placed there or just check the OPFOR1 list for a vcl called invisitank...not there in what I have..

the control panel? OK once again in that old test version there was a bomb at the head of the cave on the end where the large gun emplacement is..I had plans for a mission failed scenario that I ditched later..that is a fixed gun actually...it is supposed to be plastique with an arming panel...you'll see it soon enough in mission p207..there you'll disarm it with a code sequence..anyway..I just looked at my copy of v1.00 in IGOR and I definitely have removed it..somebody please check your copy of v1.00 near loc 129, 46, 24.5...? You're looking for a stationary gun icon there...once again removed from what I have...man I spent alot of time n effort getting that placed on that cave wall too...I hope you guys will appreciate just how much went into placing any leaning item like the SA-18 Grouse so that it looked natural, like it belonged on the map..that goes for Phlook's Fender too.. :)

The laptop is disturbing..I placed it there with the thought of expanding the intel objective with the encryption device but reconsidered..looks like I failed to remove it or teleport it out of there..it is intially hidden so no probs for SP, but it is a concern for COOP..you should not be fraggin that room anyway..but you never know...funny there were no probs observed in our testing and nobody saw a shadow either, that I recall...Rocky gonna PM ya about a redux of the v1.1 patch which will include two mission files and an updated modscont...guess it should be called v1.2...long winded post here..

My Bad, I got some folders mixed in in my mods folder, I was actually playing the earlier version you sent me. I just loaded up the latest version and there's nothing in the water now, and no number pad on the cave wall :thumbsup:

I don't think it is very clear that the demo kit in mission 3 is to be found lying around, I was tyring to use an actual demo kit to disarm LOL.

But I am going to say this, the actual demo routine, the disarming of the bridge demo in mission 3 is the coolest thing I think I have ever seen in GR, no joke, my mouth fell open - extremely slick guys,very cool!!!

Honestly, that was just too cool.

Scratch that, the injured soldier routine :o I have no clue how you pulled that off, that was amazing, never seen anything like it in GR. Two thumbs up. :thumbsup::thumbsup:

I've got a bunch of AAA games here right now, Bioshock, Fallout3 etc etc, and all I want to play is P2!

All I want to play is P2 as well (but thats mostly down to Mig's script)

I'm glad you like the eye candy, its amazing that the Wolf & the Blackhawk were the most difficult & the demo charges & the injured ghost were the easiest but get the best press from everyone (I guess thats just how it goes)

The blackhawk was very cool too, but yeh from a non modders point of view, we really have no appreciation of how hard it is to pull of some of those effects, so it's nice to hear some of the detail about that side of it, like Mig was saying just placing the MANPADS was very tricky, that sort of detail is not really appreciated by the gamer, we count on you guys telling us how tricky it was to achieve the effects that are really so cool ingame.

I believe that here we are all speechless, everytime I try to say something about P2 it comes out something like "adadgagtsecxasxsaxecnioiuyueak" :D

Mission 7 done, wonderful retexture at the port there.

Couple of comments:

- all the new additions are so cool that it seems we are playing with a new engine, maybe you guys where able to get the uncompleted GR2 for PC (hence the title P2 !!!)

- from scripting point of you the use of sounds and voices is excellent, it contributes a lot to immerse in the war!

I know I'm glad you guys are enjoying it! We all put alot of time n effort into it...I'm curious what you guys think of of the new natsanwa weapons and also the mix of previous stuff plus all the cool new characters/skins and reticles that ingeloop contributed? The new rets really carry the whole "new feel" for me..I mean its always there as a reminder ya know? I think its nice to have so many different rets for the AT stuff too..G you just saw my fav new chrs - the beret wearing Marines in arctic blotched camo...very nice IMO. How'd ya like my desktop for the PCs? :)

OK Rocky, you are the second to make such a statement so patch 1.2 will include a new mission 3 file as well where I will address this demo "supplies" vs kit thing..maybe I'll make it 'find the wire cutters...'

Big Q here in my mind...I hope you guys would not mind just copying and pasting the files into their folders as long as it is only a couple folders to do that with..I kinda hate to use an installer..for a small patch.

Completed mission 6 so far SP. Played up to 7 coop. Resisted all attempts of help, let others guide me around, spoke of nothing at all about my own sightings.. :shhhh: . We had a full 9 on the AS server for most. Played all several times so far coop, not many completions, with no respawns, as always. Need to keep cool until extract, or you will be picked off by some well activated enemy, for sure.

Missions have been totally enjoyable by everyone I have played with, nice teamwork required for this. Looking forward to the rest of these Mig, nice.

A lot of good shouts going for the new maps, all are enjoying the new Blue Ivan, Bridge map is awesome. Lot of new stuff from Phlook still to be discovered I see though. :shifty:

p206 gave most a problem, lag wise. Hope to get a test with others, with no shadows and other stuff tweaked, had issues with 4 in my server, and also on the AS dedi too.. :)

great! glad you guys have had a good time..but the lag on p206 is a let down as I love the combo of cobaka's initial creation and Phlookian's winter mod of it...maybe I shoud of left the SS-25 and LASV off that map as they are monsters...TBH I think we always expected Blue Ivan to give the most lag problem..be advised that The Farm (2004 version retexture) p220 may also give a lag issue around the main buildings area...definitely if you fire any AT or other rockets from around there..

nice to get the coop feedback for sure...Team Nighthawks tested thoroughly IMO and hopefully most deal breaker bugs were sorted out..don't think we ever had more than 6-7 going at once and don't recall we had lag issues for p206 on their server...you might get in touch with wombat50 or GreyHaired and discuss that Tiinker...

yea, things yet to be encountered..including your UAV(SP cinematic flights only) and Hammer's Smerch units...

Yeah... I've had a few extended run-ins with scripting GR helis too... but can still only imagine what a pain in the posterior that Blackhawk sequence must have been.

Positively cinematic - and a great job on the sounds for that sequence too!

yes.and that was all Phlookian Theo..all I did was activate both in the script...I'm still trying to figure out where he found that audio....and if he created a seamless mixed loop...the ani is actually a death animation!

glad ya like it.one of my favs too...enough so to include my childhood sweetheart in there...and if you don't recall that scene - she says something like ..."I feel like I'm about to hear one of those sounds...." I even considered topping off your approach to one of those stations with a short take from Buffalo Springfield's For What Its Worth..."Hey what's that sound..." or "there's a man with a gun over there.." :)

good grief I'm ancient...

you should be familiar with a few of those vehicles too G... ;)

this is a small patch that addresses a couple of required changes and a few minor edits in response to your comments/suggestions...

p202 - removed hidden laptop from script to avoid dedicated

server issues...

p203 - edited Objective 2 text message regarding locating and

p205 - ENV file - edited Max Spottting distance...now 1 meter less than far fog...

includes famas_sd_javelin.rsb kit icon...corrects v1.00 image.

Instructions:

copy and paste p201_rolling_bears, p202_black wolf, and p203_walking wolf to your Ghost Recon\Mods\P2\mission folder...

allow to overwrite...

copy n paste p2blueivanday ENV file to GhostRecon\Mods\P2\map\P2_blue_ivan and allow to overwrite...

copy and paste famas_sd_javelin.rsb to GhostRecon\Mods\P2\Shell\Art\Kit\demolitions...

copy and paste modscont doc to GhostRecon\Mods\P2...allow to overwrite...

I'm not sure Tinker, darn good Q! wombat50 did some testing at my request but I did not ask him to check that out..my bad...here is an excerpt from his email -

All updated missions play as vulnerable.(he was making sure I got dev modes taken care of)

-modscont.txt appears as 1.20

-laptop shadow does not appear on 202

-Replay and quick saves work correctly on 201

-noted changes in briefing about disarming demo charges on 203

-famas_sd_javelin.rsb appears correctly

I would say P202 COULD HAVE A PROBLEM SINCE THE VCL LAPTOP HAS BEEN REMOVED BUT IT WAS NEVER CALLED FOR IN THE SCRIPT OTHER THAN INTIALLY HIDDEN...AND THE CHANGE IN THE ENV FILE FOR P205 MIGHT CAUSE A PROBLEM...CHANGING THE SPOTTING DISTANCE THERE?

EDIT - then again the ENV name remains the same so I don't think it will..the laptop worries me though. maybe somebody can test that out after backing their current mission up...

If you guys have already played these then I would hold off with replacing the missions and ENV file until you are ready to do so...I can't see where the rsb for the kit icon matters but don't know what affect replacing the modscont would have...I'd hold off changing that too..until you're ready...I have a saved campaign anyway and will try to load that first mission with this new modscont..OK that worked ok as all I had left was escort the goofy pilot to the house and it completed the mission fine after loading up...that was finished already too so p202 was next in the que but with no saves..it loads fine as I would have expected it to w/o a save to worry with..

EDIT -

Ok I just went in and added two laptops to p202, opened a game in quick mission..skipped the cine, messed around to wolf shut up, killed a few guys then saved...quit the game, removed the laptops in IGOR restarted and loaded the p202 save...it loaded but the laptops were still there! so I guess that will be fine then...I went to the back room and took care of business there too..cept I forgot to intially hide em so went back and did it again with just one as originally in game and that too worked out in testing..mission reloaded fine.

EDIT AGAIN -

Tested p205 switching out ENV file changes and loading a saved game - no problem for me..quick mission mode though..doubt it will affect campaign either..

I think it'll all work ok Tinker..

MigRyder - Looks like this mod is fantastic - I downloaded it soon after release, but didn't have time to install and play. Now I'm ready to play it but I see you have some small patches.

Could you update the current installation procedure? I have no problem with the original installation info. I'm just not clear how many updates there are and if one is cumulative.

yes i know im slow but after modding for ages i just couldnt get myself to sit down at the PC anymore, however....

i have completed mission 1 tonight and loved it - great challenge and realistic feel - not over done but enough intelligent AI to kick your ass if you're not careful.

can't wait for the next 23!!

Hey I love it so far!!!!! Did I miss something in mission 2, completed all the objectives except destroy helo, mmmmmmmmm can't find one!! Did something not trigger or am I daft??

The location can be 1 of 3 random locations.

All are on the edge of the map where you can not go but only see.
