[P2: "A Cold Day in Hell" v1.00 - public release]

P2 missions available for 27 in coop.

Had a few nights the past 2 weeks we had 1 or 2, too many peeps in the server, and had to switch the mods around.

Thnx to Mig for permissions to change this problem. :D

Place all mission files into the P2 mission folder, they will NOT override the originals.

Set the server to Team and Mission.

Team 1 / 2 / 4 are the player teams, set them to blue. Ensure team 3 is set to red team and nobody uses it.

There may be issues with allies firing at the team 2 and 4, may need to avoid missions with this issue.

Missions have not had the respawn positions entered, as this is a quick fix for the Alpha Squad server, and there we always play with no respawns.

Cobaka put those novels there btw when he originally created the desert map for Mission Afghanistan mod that was dropped...

a couple of those items will be collected in the same manner as you do the PDA case, encryption device, etc...others are mere map objects for eye candy...though I may have modded the texture a bit and added some text to spice it up..

did I mention Claudia Cardinale from a scene in Once Upon Time In The West? William Holden, Ernest Borgnine, Ben Johnson, and Warren Oates from (?) you tell me...and another TV with a tv series pic and associated music on one of the maps...?

the natsanwa doing something other than creating 3D weapons desktop?

Had a pic of Phlookian and the band he played with performing at Kings Head Pub on a tv at one time but decided he is just too ugly to keep that one... :D so we just went for the place-able guitar instead...!

Have a look at the TV on WSV, I think callmehobbes did that one..I added the Russian news agency logo for a source..

@ Phlookian, man today I realized we shoulda put a place-able James Lee Burke novel in there somewhere - Dave Robicheaux in A Stained White Radiance might of been appropriate... :)

I am watching that movie right now actually, over a few nights. Are you saying you included a reference to it somewhere in the mod, I think I remembering hearing that haunting melody....?

that haunting melody...check the credits roll from outro or the credits doc in the main folder(same text)...the pic of Claudia C. is on some PCs as a desktop...its one of two cinematic moments between Bronson and her when there is mention of "...a strange sound" or noise - something like that.

Yeah, that's one of my fav's (along with Ellroy's "White Jazz", "Run" by Douglas E Winter or anything by Carol O'Connel or George Pelecanos)

No-one seems to have noticed the "3DsMax Bible" in the Blackwolf maps either :whistle:

First up, thanks for a fantastic looking mod! (P2) Very well done.

I am however having a small problem that I hope can be fixed. In mission 2 I am unable to complete the mission, I have searched high and low but there is simply no crashed helo!

This is occuring in both campaign and single mission modes.

Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. all patches are up to date etc.

I tried using the search engine to find the P2 threads, but could come up with nothing better than this.

Is it just me, or are there no objective markers on the map? I played through the first mission without them, when I started the second, I saw no markers and I can't play on without direction, the maps are way too big and the briefing gives no description of objective locations.

I am playing through in Multiplayer so I don't have to completely re-pick the platoons kits each time, I tweak the coop_avatar.toe file. However, I assume campaign looks the same though.

I must have some bug, right?

No bug...there are only a few Objective markers in any of 24 missions....many objectives are actually a set of subtasks so this becomes difficult to mark like that anyway..another reason is that many are search n secure tasks so for the sake of adventure I did not just hand the locales over to player and once again with multiple locations for any given item like WMD caches it becomes difficult to mark the objective. On a better note for you I did mark some locales of importance like Cell#2 in mission 10(p210 - Fighting Bears) so you know where to escort your prisoner...or the room where the POWs should be secured in the fort map...p206 - Roaring Bear..stuff like that..the 2nd mission p202 - Black Wolf is a huge map but all of those objectives include searches for the most part..in the case of the commander's helo it can be in one of three randomly chosen locales so that is hard to mark properly..there are nine or ten structures to investigate so once again that is kinda difficult to mark...look on the north ridge, all basins, and up by the bridge for those...if you can't find the helo PM me for hints or actual locs if you desire..the device and MANPADS are found while completing the task of investigating the structures...no other map except p205 - Standing Bear is as huge..there is a desciption in the brief of where the downed SU-25 may be..on that one but other objectives on it are multitasked...it also has areas not shown on the CM but look through threads like this one or http://www.ghostrecon.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=51946 plus the old P2 development thread in this same forum for more info.

Oh, finding most of the vehicles will pose no real problems and some will let you know where they are long before you get there...

One of my goals in the missions was to give player a sense of adventure and discovery coupled with a good hard firefight here n there...if they are trying to stop you there may well be something important nearby, eh?

Do hope you are able to enjoy the mod..PM me if you have any Qs that may include spoiler info..and BTW take your time on Black Wolf, there are things to see never before seen on a GR map..

Mig, thanks for taking the time to explain, I'll have to give it another shot and see what it's like. The idea of random placement sounds cool, I love the mission hx random mission generator gametype and play it 85% of GR time.

I'm curious how many random variables you have used in the mission scripts and how widely used they are throughout the campaign. Is there a post describing this or would you be interested in doing so when you have time?

There are scattered mentions of it in the three threads for P2...but I'll give look and see what I can come up with there...like the helo there are some items that have random showing..for instance on several missions there could be as many as 1-4 Suitcase Nukes show up(aka SADMs) a few missions have teams that get located in different spots at start up and given plans that are tailored to that locale..I did not use that as much as I have in past mods I scripted because I started using large area patrols that are made up of multiple zones and may include 2-4 teams sharing that plan...it is possible to set a platrol plan and place a small zone in each corner of the map for a team or teams to execute... I experimented with this first...sometimes a team will respond to action going on within their patrol responsibilty and sometimes they won't..keeping in mind that could be a large area of the map..

I just realized something about how you are playing..when you play missions(later in the campaign) with Smerch units in coop mode the units are like tanks and require AT rockets to kill unlike their SP counterparts which are trucks in that mode..hope you are playing with AI backup. We had to go with it like that cause the trucks would twirl maddly on a dedi server for some clients.

see what other info I can supply about random stuff later..but it won't match mission HX randomness..
