Forrester
good news, but sad you are working on racing games, we need a new shooter..... Anyway I see a lot of my friends have trouble with their job or finding a new one, consider yourself lucky and make the best of it!
GRIN_Wolfsong
Back looking for work again. My contract is running to an end and due to the status of the current projects in their pipeline they can't give me a new contract so I've decided to go back home even if I don't find any work in games. Who knows it may be time again to find a new line of work as I've done so many times before. But there is still some hope that I may remain in game development in the future... time will tell. BS PALADIN
Why dont you try a start up. Get a few people to work on commision. Make a small tactical shooter which is online only. Use the GR priniciple with ok graphics and release it for free. Then charge for additional DLC.
Rocky
Why dont you try a start up. What, like BFS? That's insanely difficult to pull off. Sorry to hear about that Wolfsong, I'll be hoping something turns up for you. Get that CV updated and start emailing. Good luck mate. BS PALADIN
No not like BFS. BFS tried to make a complete game with very complicated animations and both an epic campaign and multiplayer. What I suggest is a basic MP only shipping with 3 maps with slightly improved GR type gameplay.
GRIN_Wolfsong
There is many small companies back home formed from people both from Grin and Starbreeze, which are starting to need people now that they have established themselves with publishers and gotten their economy going, so I think there will be work for me sooner or later. But first of all... I'm getting married in august so that is a big reason I've decided to move back home even if there I can't be guaranteed a job right now. GRIN_Wolfsong
Thanks. No, Czech is not one of them. Just Swedish and English. Passable in Norwegian I guess as it's close to Swedish..
GRIN_Wolfsong
New contract! Overall it looks like a couple of ex-grin people are moving back to Sweden this fall. The industry has turned around for us again here and developers are expanding once more.

GRIN_Wolfsong
Great to hear. What sort of genre will you be working on? The only big titles Avalanche Studios have put out so far are Just Cause 1 & 2. So 3rd person action is a good guess. They also did The Hunter but I think that is now part of the company they have started to handle online games. GRIN_Wolfsong
I posted about a company called Whiteout, founded by old GRIN people in this topic: http://www.ghostrecon.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=54731 But today they went official with their homepage as well so I'll bring them up again. http://www.hellowhiteout.com/blog/
Pave Low
That's great to hear, thanks for the update “We are currently working on a bigger project in CryENGINE 3, and thanks to the excellent technology and support from Crytek, we have been able to carefully handcraft a playable prototype that will knock your socks off.”Very Interesting
Rocky
Good luck Whiteout, looking forward to seeing your first release!
Nutlink
[Post Edited] They did a decent job with GRAW 1 and 2 with what Ubi gave them, so I'm really hoping that this new game on CryEngine 3 is a tac shooter. Edited August 2, 2010 by Pave Low Merged with existing thread where that was already posted
Evilducky
Oh this could be very good.. Im excited for it already. EDIT: Hopefully this means that it will be easier to do mods, and map making for the new game. Edited August 3, 2010 by Evilducky
