Stinger 0
I have two sticks of 256MB PC 2100 Ram in my pc. I now have a new mobo and it has more dimms available. But I dont want to waste my money on more PC2100 Ram. So my question is, would it be okay to add a stick of PC3200 RAM to my mobo with the 2 sticks of 2100? Would the 3200 just be clocked down to the 2100's speed then? Thanks
Dark Ranger 0
Disclamer: "Do not mix RAM Brands and Speeds!" Ok, on my home rig, I'm running 384MB of RAM. One 128MB stick is Toshiba @ PC100, the other 2 128MB sticks are *ahem* Kingston @ PC133. It works fine for me. Theoretically, it should clock down. *cough*Try it and see.*cough* Be careful. Crimson 0
I would advise you to not do it, but that is just me. Perhaps you have a friend willing to buy it, or you can keep it for future use.
Stinger 0
I'll just wait and get these I suppose.

Stinger 0
Thanks, if it didn't cost so much for a sinlge 1GB stick I would grab it instead. I just realized this is the most expensive hobby I have ever taken up. Yet the main thing I do with my system (game) I have only spent a few hours at. lol
Specter 0
You used to be able to do it on the PC133 and slower sticks. They would just run at the slower speed. But on the new faster RAM and kick butt bus speeds, I have yet to see it work right. Like I said, it was ok on the older stuff. Very INADVISABLE to do it now.
