With all these great mods in the works and released I just wondered if someone had a plain, simple silenced M24 floating around looking for a home. :D

Could be more effective in MP that's all.

there seems to a shortage of silenced sniper weapons on the whole. Theres the SR25sd that came with IT and there is the Steyr PIIK SD in SPVv4. Other than that i haven't found any. :(

Projectile's Sniper Armoury has two or three silenced sniper rifles.

I agree, does anyone know if there will be any in the community mod?

Slink if you could show me a pic of a silenced M24, i will make one.

i found a bunch of M24 pictures for textures, but the gun isn't silenced. so i will need one for reference.

I think Us Navy SEALs 2.0 had a number of silenced sniper rifles, including an M-24 and M-82, I think many were specalist weapons, (I changed them to standard though). Sabre Teams I think also had those weapons.

Why would you want a silenced M24 or M82? It's very unrealistic seeing as the guns would still be making a sonic crack from the bullet breaking the sound barrier. Also, on the M82, this would remove the muzzle brake (muzzle brakes increase the report/muzzle blast) which reduces recoil and make it a mamouth of a firearm to shoot recoil wise.

Have a look at OPS INC's website, they have some videos of silenced rifles, carbines & pistols including some of an M82A1! Doesn't seem to be that hard recoil on that one to me & the report gets nicely suppressed

I wonder about how those really sound in person. Compare the silenced M82 to the .308 pistol with the muzzle brake. I'll tell you now, that if you were shooting that .308 without hearing protection, your ears would be rining, yet it doesn't sound that much louder than the M82.

I just think it could be fun in MP.

Doesn't Chavez use one in Clear and Present Danger? (Not a good ref source. I know)

the sonic boom does not come from the muzzel of the weapon though, it comes from the bullet itself, and the noise will seem to come from werever the round passed closeest to the listener, not from the origin of the shot (making any sence? I know that was confusing), anyway the sonic crack is considerd a "non-directional" noise and it is hard to locate the shooter from it.

Also, on the M82, this would remove the muzzle brake

actualy the supressor for the M-82 is free floating on the barrel and attached with a recool-dapening spring alowing the supressor to recoil as the round exits the end, this is not as effective as the normal muzzel break, but it helps.

There are suppressesors aplenty for the the 700 series barrels. I have never personally seen an actual suppressed M24 (as in legitimate US army model), but I have reason to believe they exist.
