RatoN
Well, that confirms that RSE will develop the next GR for da PC. Thx Kimi,
Rocky
Thanks for the post Kimi! I guess things are about to get very busy again! I agree with NoFears though, GRAW2 is still fun in co-op and those missions will still be getting played, even when the next GR comes out later this year (allegedly). Now we have to get all stressed about "the lack of PC information" all over again though.... Initial targets for 2009-10 Yves Guillemot continued: "2009-10 looks very promising and our teams are working flat-out to provide gamers with the best the industry has to offer. Our line-up comprises several potential blockbusters with the launch of 7 franchises, including Assassin's Creed®, Splinter Cell® and Ghost Recon®, as well as 4 license-based games including James Cameron's Avatar, 3 new brands and a further-enhanced casual games portfolio. Although we have to be cautious in light of the current economic environment, we expect Ubisoft to once again be one of the most dynamic and profitable publishers in the games industry in 2009." These forecasts have been drawn up taking into account the launch of i) 7 franchise titles, including Assassin's Creed 2, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell ConvictionTM, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon and Anno®; ii) 3 new brands including I Am Alive; iii) 4 movie license-based games including James Cameron's Avatar, a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game and the sequel to Arthur and the Invisibles; and iv) an enriched casual games portfolio which will be focused on the successful Petz, Imagine, My Coach and PlayZoneTM series. Bota:16
This disturbs me: However, as some of our games did not meet the required quality levels to achieve their full potential they need more sales promotions than anticipated. So instead of trying to increase QUALITY they just throw more money into marketing and/or dropping the price.....

So instead of trying to increase QUALITY they just throw more money into marketing and/or dropping the price..... My interpretation... Some games were bad, so we have difficulty selling them for the full price. That is good to hear. They realize that they could do better games. I'll go check the Français version of that quote... Edit: No luck. It's says the exact same thing. Edited January 22, 2009 by RatoN
krise madsen
OK, I'm guessing there's a bunch of people in Morrisville busy at their workstations right now? And I'm still taking bets that the new Ghost Recon will be a console title eventually ported to PC. Respectfully krise madsen

GR2 PC comments DEJA-VU Oh I don't mean that as a critique. I think it's the most likely thing, and TBH if I was sitting in the Exec's chair that's probably what I'd do. Doesn't mean that I like it though. Respectfully krise madsen
Bota:16
Well I don't necessarily mind a console port, it's just with UBI's recent track record of ports, they do a poor job at adding or changing stuff to make a PC game, particularly with the user interface. It's like they are scared to offer the player more than few options at a time. Trying to get into a MP UBI game takes forever compared to other publishers/developers because of the layers and layers of menus. They should really look at the Call of Duty series interface. You can do just about everything from one screen.

However he neglected to mention that they can (and do) unceremoniously drop support for some of those low quality titles- in order to cut costs. GR2 PC comments DEJA-VU With Ubi's recent lack of success at porting games from a console to the PC, many are leary of a game that isn't specifically created for the PC. Sure, porting a game over can save money, but if no one buys a ported console game, Ubi could lose even more money in the long run. I can name at least 4 games that Ubi failed at properly porting and optimizing for the PC.
dporter
Aren't we still assuming at this point that RSE is developing it for the PC? I meant they haven't really officially said who is working on it. It is probably a very valid and reasonable guess since Kimi was the one who posted it here, but we still have to realize that were just assuming things until more info is released. RatoN
Oki, let’s forget for a moment that Kimi is the Community Manager for RSE. I’m gonna ask two simple questions here, in order to find out who is workin on what. Because some of you know and I’m too lazy to do some research. We know that RSE has been working on something, judging from the GDC videos on their site, but refuse to say what. 1. So what could RSE be working on if not GR? It is no secret who is doing what, so If not RSE, some other studio IS working on the next GR. 2. What are the other dev houses working on now? WhiteKnight77
Kimi is a Ubi Community Developer who is on both the GR franchise and FC2.

legacywork
I wonder if GRAW2 is going to be left alone and soon forgotten, in the shadows of the new Ghost Recon when it comes.. It is a pity if it happends.. GRAW2 is till a very good game But i welcome a new Ghost Recon and looking forwards to it Lets face it ..... the GR (series) will never die ..... it may (as in the forums) get shelved a couple of months when something new comes out. But when we are all bored with the fast paced, glitzy, shiny shoot-em-ups ..... out comes GR again. And GRAW2 is still the best "Tactical" experience, so my guess is, it will live long and prosper (christ I sound like Spock) I better go ..... I canny wait Cap'n Legacy
dporter
Kimi is a Ubi Community Developer who is on both the GR franchise and FC2. I think her affiliation is actually with RSE. Could be both, who knows, but I've only seen her post from the RSE side of things since this post: http://www.ghostrecon.net/forums/index.php...c=48356&hl=
WhiteKnight77
Remember, RSE is owned by Ubi and I asked her about that one day when I saw her on the FC2 forums posting in said manner. She is CD for both games even though she is in NC.
RAbbi_74
RSE as a developer for the PC version would be good news (no offense, GRIN). Y'all have fun when this comes out!
ApexMods
Yes! It's official now! :'> Thanks a lot for letting us know, Kimi! This looks very promising, indeed - Kimi (RSE) posting in the GR4 (PC) thread about the next Ghost Recon - all the more reason to be optimistic. Which brings me to an important point: Maybe we should all try to be more optimistic about Ghost Recon's next installment - just look at it this way: If everyone keeps whining about this, and we already dismiss any chance for this to be the game we all have been waiting for, we set ourselves up to be seen as the ever-negative crowd that simply cannot be pleased, no matter what. Let's focus on constructive contributions to the subject, on the power of positive thought if you want. As long as we keep the hope for a true Ghost Recon successor alive, there is a reason for the developer to deliver just that. But if we just keep telling them "it won't be any good, anyhow" this is really not a good incentive for them to listen to us now, is it? I, for one, am quite optimistic about the next Ghost Recon and look forward to its release with positive anticipation. The thought that maybe - just maybe - some of our dreams for GR could be realized in a new game very soon is surely a welcome boost of energy, and I will enjoy this to the fullest while waiting for Ghost Recon 4 to arrive.
