Map Sizes

I am contemplating making a new map with 3dsMax for GRAW2 and would like to know just how big can we go?

how many meters by how many meters?

And when a map is opened into the Editor, just what do the x, y, z coordinates represent, size wise? A meter? cm?

I think soo there is no limit on size just on the amount of vertices by mesh. 65000 vertices is the magic number on each mesh.

The main unit is meters.

So running the "subdivide" thing too much will make more vertices and possibly go over that limit?

Is it possible for one area to have more vertices than others... like lots for a mountain.. and few for a flat area... like a lake?
