We found out what was causing the crashes. It was because we set our names to nothing so we wouldn't see the killfeed. Second we changed our names back the crashes stopped.

Here again a new version 2.01 of the HU_101_Fix where more errors were fixed. 

hopefully it helps to finish some missions after many desperate attempts. It is to be used as HU add-on

Hey there, just downloaded Heroes Unleashed and im having a bug with gun sounds, the thing is, none of them actually sounds when fired, im playing Ghost Recon through Uplay, is there any fix?

        OPTIONAL EXPANSIONS

        1. If Desert Siege or Island Thunder are not present, it is necessary

           to install compatibility add-ons for Heroes Unleashed.  You find

           them included in the mod's "XTRAS" bonus content folder:

           "Heroes Unleashed\XTRAS\HU Compatibility Add-Ons\"

 

        2. Unpack the appropriate 7-zip archive(s), then install the resulting

           mod folder(s) just like Heroes Unleashed (see QUICK INSTALL above).

           Substitute any missing expansion with its corresponding mod, e.g.

           if no expansions are installed, ACTIVE MODS should look like this:

 

           ACTIVE MODS

           HU - Missing Desert Siege

           HU - Missing Island Thunder

           Heroes Unleashed

 

        3. Click ACCEPT to apply the changes (you will notice a brief delay),

           then click QUIT and wait for the Ghost Recon application to exit.

 

           NOTE: For all changes to take effect it is essential to quit and

           restart the Ghost Recon game after altering mod settings.

 

        4. Relaunch the game to play Ghost Recon: Heroes Unleashed.

 

        NOTE: The compatibility add-ons allow playing Heroes Unleashed without

        Desert Siege and Island Thunder, but they do not provide any of the

        content included in the original expansions and cannot replace them.

Thanks! then how it should be the resulting mod folder? the txt. archive overwrite with either Desert Siege or Island Thunder eachtime I decompress those files to the main mod folder

Hi, dusted off this old game, trying to get it setup on a mac via crossover. The base game with the two expansions work fine but when I install HU and try to start a mission the game freezes and crashes. Wondering if anyone has any advice how I could get HU up and running?

I am a PC user so I can only suggest to look through the OPERATORS MANUAL.HTML in the main HU folder.

Apexmods is a Mac user and I think he goes into great detail in the Operators Manual on how to use HU with a Mac.
It may help to use the search term "Mac" to make it quicker to find what you need in the Operators Manual.

This is a forum thread about using the wineskin wrapper for Mac. It started in 2012 but there are several posts from 2020 so you may find something relevant.: here

I have a couple questions:

First, are the GR patches in the 'XTRAS' folder necessary? Or if I bought the game through Steam, should it be updated to the latest version?

Second, is there a way to actually make the enemies 'see you if you see them?' It seems they can close on your position and shoot at you from a long distance, I'd like to actually make them able to see you if they have a clear line of sight, as well.

In any case, thanks for this awesome mod/game, nothing like it!

the steam version is already fully patched to 1.4.0.0 there is nothing else. 

if you also bought Desert Siege and Island Thunder via steam, everything is fine.

one more note if you want to join a server in multiplayer with active mods Desert Siege and Island Thunder, you must have them installed.
