TAW_Zero Posted November 18, 2008 Share Posted November 18, 2008 nicely done. me and my friends played it thru twice first off name to long can only read the first half in game maybe shortn it to coop_urban_legacy adat and antenna dont blowup (u can keep blowin them with no effect) and it says obj complete evey time are all the ai suppose to move around (except snipers) ?? if so some dont move (near spawn tower barracks and behind back door area) other than that its great i love how ai spawns after u get halway and behind u nicely done and the very beginning is pretty tuff on hardcore took us bout 40 min to play thru i hope u dont get mad at me for the feedback thanks for nice map Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I finally got to play the mission...did not get to finish it through as the wifey came home...did play one game for ~35 min's....Wow...very nice first mission. Sneaky ###### arn't you! A few notes... Liked tyres @ adats...nice touch diff. mexicans assaulting spawn point. Thoughts spawned on the containing once - might want to move spawn zone out a tiny bit blew adats @ map ref. C3, then @ B4 (I guess reverse oder to most), and got the objective complete "Nice going - now destroy antenna" message after I blew the first adat (ie. without blowing second @ B4) when I blew antenna (after much dying!) I got the objective complete message, then watch out for snsipers but no other objective...ie. no extraction point?? Is there one? Assume this is related to the order I blew adats? All in all very entertaining...and very deadly for those who do not take due care. Great job mate. I'll look forward to playing it at lan games on Thursday. Dav. Only thing I can think about the extract point is that when the antenna is blown it should have released sniper02 (a total of 4 snipers) which are ... ahem... strategically placed but at the same time it should have pointed to the extract location .... so will take another look at that. But maybe there is a fault in the Modding-Wiki, if you take your Modding-knowledge from it. Because i cant play the Mission with lower Hardware, like Davros Missions .. (all maps from Rpghard - no Prob). The scripting of win-condition seems to need rework, cause sometime i win in 15 min .. without blowing the Adats .. and sometime i blow only one Adat .. etc .. What hardware spec's were you using - (both playable and laggy/not playable machine's spec's). Might be something we need to sort out there...but be damned if I know what it is as the script is about as simple as one can get and very few enemy, triggers, no vehicles/heli's. etc. Argh...perhaps we need RPG to take a look...I saw him about yesterday... In Graw-house-Mission i run 1280 x 1024 .. but for Multiplayer 1024 x 768 .. This mission ( & davros) runs only a little acceptable with: Physik = normal Textures = low Filter = Ansi 4x Quallity = low Dyn Shadows = low Dyn Light = on After Effects = low Anti-Aliasing = always off In all "older" maps i can use everything on : high with ; Ansi 4x/8x ; Anti-Aliasing is always of .. .. I take all comments as constructive criticism and a platform to build on so don't be afraid to tell me the crap bits too ....... if there are any I know about finishing in 15 mins (my brother pointed it out) seems I only used small loc_***** squares and as such, there is the possibility of getting round the mission without triggering some of the patrols .... but believe me I have learned the error of my ways Also learned a lot about scripting now ... and my next mission involves completion of a series of objectives ... in random order to be completed before the extract can be triggered. All in all (despite frequent periods of hair pulling ... and sometimes waking up screaming) I had a lot of fun building and playing my first attempt ..... and to have some good feedback is really heart warming ..... particularly as I think no-one will ever speak to me again once I launch my next mission ...... Hmmm, this is a mystery...You have a reasonable systems so it should run well without having to drop the settings (and as you say, does run well with other missions from RPGHard). I have a "spare" old PC I'll test it on...it's a 3700+ with 1G and 7900GT so I'll run it up at full detail and that should expose the issue (as well as playing some other maps). We need to get to the bottom of this one. One thing I am thinking is the sequence of the triggers and the events...IIRC in GRIN missions they had the triggers all clumped in the one part of the code and then all the events clumped separately...I have them one after the other ie. trigger/event/trigger/event etc. Do not see why this would make a diff...but it's something I'd like to try. Suggest we also "gut" the mission script to absolute bare bones (ie. remove all trigger/event code) and see how that runs...Perhaps also a second version with gutted mission.xml and a "clean" world.xml. I would also like load this skeleton version up to a share and get you to run it on your PC Twix if that's ok. Legacy, not sure if that's something you could help with as I think we need to work out why it's not running ok on his PC and if there is something we can change before releasing more missions?? Feel free to use the smestorage. Dav. EDIT : Just ran it on the 3700+ (2.2Ghz single core) with 1Ghz RAM, 7900GT with 256Mb on an old LCD @ 1024 x 768. FYI the mission is based upon this original (non-GRIN) map made by LoBo_FieRo called urban_conflict... http://www.ghostrecon.net/files2/index.php...view&id=756 Interestingly, my mission (coop_compound) also used a map by LoBo_FieRo (compound map) and also has lag/performance issues! Perhaps there is something about the way the map has been rendered which is causing the issue? BSR_Vhlad said in a PM ..."The one very important thing I remember having to do was to change my Prerender from 3 to 0. It really made the game much more playable after that." The issue for me is that I know Nothing (yes, with a capital N) about map making, rendering etc. (and not even sure that's the issue). So really need help with solving this. You help is much appreciated mate. The urban_conflict map is the one I am using on the wiki for the tutorials. Be a damn shame to inspire people to put out a series of missions if there is a flaw that causes slow play. Let me know if there is anything I can do to make it easier for you - I know you have a heap going on and so really appreciate you helping out mate. A big Thankyou. I guess my X2 6000+, 3GB PC8000 and Radeon 4850 ain't good enough... I also remember having some trouble with the "Hell" map. But I do like the map!! Is hard to make a choice about the buildings u want to use on each map. In the second version of uc i extracted all of textures needed for a few buildings and the map was more faster. But this give me a lot of conflicts with some original maps. I wanna make sure u guys are using the right version couse the one on gr.net is outdated. The last version is included on a big map pack and is the most stable and faster version. About compound davros , the map on multiplayer is running very smooth. I think soo u have to make some change on the layout and render everything again. Example timber. On multiplayer timber has a different layout than coop. The dynamic objects like vehicles an burnings cars or fires really are killing the performance on this game. I hope u guys can fix this little problems. LoBo_FieRo, I must apologise, I do not understand what I need to do here. I have not added any more dynamic items to the map other than ADATS and helicopters that come and go. Are you saying that I need to re-render the map for coop? If so, how do I do that? What are the best settings? Can you pls. provide more detail on this and step by step instructions? It would be fantastic if you could download my coop_urban_conflict and take a look at it for me, (as well as explaining what I would need to do so I can learn). Dav. ADAT marker does not change to alternate ADAT once the first one is destroyed. 2. Antenna can be C4'd over and over and the completed mission message comes up every time. (agree with ZeroG) 3. Would be nice to see the Antenna collapse after C4 explosion, but I think that is a game issue. 4. Need more tangos throughout the map to make it more challenging We at AGB had a great time with this map. Great job!! Our hats off to you for being your first coop map. Also kudos to Lobo_Fiero for the map design!!! Read that someone played it on Hardcore setting. Anyone know where that setting is on a dedicated game server xml? Would love to turn it on!!! I know there are issues with C4ing the adats and the antenna ... but it was my first attempt .... and I guarantee in my current mission build all the objectives / destructions and extractions are linked a lot more like you would expect . Thanks again for all comments. Some credit must go to Dav, Tinker and Rocky for guiding me through the tough / technical areas of mission modding and for getting it launched in the first place. Using Checker! I'll take a closer look at the silo unit. Ok. The silo is complaining about being tilted. As it has an occluder inside it has to be placed without rotations in the world, or it will keep failing the test to be used as occluder and will take up some CPU time each frame with that. I understand the bit about the silo being tilted, and that will also be a problem in the re-rendered map that Lobo pointed me towards. On that note I have downloaded the re-rendered version and have nearly completed the migration, so will have that up and running within the next few days, just having a problem getting an objective to remove once it has been satisfied at the moment .... can't understand it. Also... when playing it yesterday and before I had blown any ADATS.. I was wandering around in the area that I think might be the extraction zone ( not sure what corner this is.. maybe SE?) and the mission ended... This would make a great defend or hamburger hill map. Dav I actually think you have to set the roll to 0 as well. That unit can probably not be tilted. That was the only thing that spamed the debug tools. Other then that I haven't checked how many physics units are on the level, like wind versions of vegetation and such. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
