Rogue Spear problems with XP

Recommended Posts

well i checked out the site and it has nothing on XP in the FAQ section

What, you mean the RAVEN SHIELD faq's in the RAVEN SHIELD forum ? :P

OK, maybe we're being too subtle ;)

Step 1. Goto our sister site (that deals specifically with R6 series of games).

Step 2. Goto the Rouge Spear forum.

Step 3. Post new topic asking question.

Step 4. Wait for one of the hord of RS players to reply.

Step 5. :)

*Note: The AGR-S site looks very bare at the moment as we are recovering from our previous "host" loosing all the data, including the forums which had a vast collecion of R6 posts.

Actually, All of the Rogue Spear and R6 games run very well in XP, without having to use any compatability mode. I run them myself. Though I am curious about your video card.

The intel 740i was only a 4 or 8 meg PCI or AGP video card, there was a choice, they made both, unless it was built onto the motherboard, in which case, there is a utility in the BIOS, or should be that allows you to specify up to a certain amount of System RAM to share with it. It is also a fairly old card, that was the same generation as the TNT chips. It was Intel's first foray into the mass video card market for consumers.

But if GR runs on the same system, you have something else going on.

It shouldnt need to run in any compatability mode, although I wouldnt rule this out, since it is XP, and if that is indeed the video card you have, there may be a problem there, although I cant see what it would be, since GR runs on it. What settings do you have to use in GR by the way? This will give us some clue as to what the video card can handle.

Have you checked the crash logs for R6 and Rogue Spear? If there is one? I've never looked to see if there is because I have never crashed it.

Let me know. I'll try to help if I can. I also run them on a P4 1.6 but have more RAM than you do and different video. Also if you want, my contact info is in my profile. Lets hook up and we will see if we cant work this out for ya.

Actually, according to researching the net, that video number is actually a video driver number, not the model of the video card.

Did you build the PC or have it built?

Do you still have the motherboard manual, and if not, could you get me the make and model number of the motherboard? That is if the graphics are integrated?

Windows has a nasty habit sometimes, especially with sound and video , of identifying the hardware by driver number, instead of model number. It doesnt happen often, but it does happen.
